Story
One of the great fears many of us face is that despite all our effort and striving, we will discover at the end that we have wasted our life. In A Guide to the Good Life, William B. Irvine plumbs the wisdom of Stoic philosophy, one of the most popular and successful schools of thought in ancient Rome, and shows how its insight and advice are still remarkably applicable to modern lives. In A Guide to the Good Life, Irvine offers a refreshing presentation of Stoicism, showing how this ancient philosophy can still direct us toward a better life.

Publisher's Summary
The pulse-pounding sequel to the best-selling, Edgar Award-winning Red Sparrow that The New York Times Book Review called "terrifically good": Star-crossed spies Dominika Egorova and CIA agent Nate Nash return in a cat-and-mouse race to the finish.
Captain Dominika Egorova of the Russian Intelligence Service (SVR) has returned from the West to Moscow and the Center, the headquarters of her service. She finds things worse than when she left. She despises the men she must serve, the oligarchs and crooks and thugs of Putin's Russia. What no one knows is that Dominika is working for the CIA as Washington's most sensitive penetration of SVR and the Kremlin.
As she expertly dodges exposure, Dominika deals with a murderously psychotic boss; survives an Iranian assassination attempt; escapes a counterintelligence ambush; rescues an arrested agent and exfiltrates him out of Russia; and has a chilling midnight conversation in her nightgown with President Putin in one of the tsar's palaces. Complicating the risks is the fact that Dominika is in love with her CIA handler, Nate Nash, and their lust is as dangerous to both of them as committing espionage in Moscow. And when a mole in the SVR finds Dominika's name on a restricted list of sources, it is a virtual death sentence. She must face off alone against her psycho boss, who's got an eight-inch knife up his sleeve.
Just as fast paced, heart pounding, and action packed as Red Sparrow, Jason Matthews' second novel proves he is "an insider's insider and a masterful storyteller" (Vince Flynn, number-one New York Times best-selling author).

Bellowing, so much bellowing
Pretty good, author can't stop using "bellow." Make it into a drinking game! Overall pace is pretty good, fits the formula of Vol. 1.

Great Sequel
If you're a fan of the first book (red sparrow) then you'll definitely enjoy part 2 of this 3 part series. I'd say this book has more action and just as many twists, turns and surprises as the first. I found myself more involved with and attached to the characters this time around. This book is a journey and worth every step along the way. The narrator does a great job and I found it hard to stop listening sometimes, it's suspensefull and I always needed to know what happens next. There is some awesome undercover ops and some real spy craft in this story. overall a great listen and I can't wait to start the 3rd book!

Why change her name pronunciation ??
Great story - more action than the first and more relationships between the characters. I could see how some people might find it a little predictable but since I'm new to the spy genre, it was gripping to me.
Why, if the same person narrated book 1 and book 2, change the way the main character's name is pronounced ?!?! I was used to it by the end of the book but the first half was so irritating.

Excellent Listen
Loved this follow-up to the first book in the series. The story was well paced and kept me wanting more. Loved seeing how these characters lives and careers have progressed from the first book.
Definitely looking forward to listening to the third book in the series.

Really Disappointing compared to Red Sparrow
One dimensional bad guys, too many
action packed sequences, turned up steamy passion. All the weaknesses of Red Sparrow turned up to ten - and I really liked Red Sparrow…
