What the critics say

"[Narrator Stephen] Fry gives Max a perfect plummy voice and has equal fun with colorful supporting characters and ne'er-do-wells. His lovely mix of realistic conversation and pacing, as well as the occasional slow wink, encourages listeners to succumb in pleasure." ( AudioFile)

A pale imitation of Conan Doyle

I found this to be a pale imitation of the Sherlock Holmes stories. The twist of the main protagonist being blind does not compensate for the stories being rather dull. Neither does the excellent narration by Stephen Fry. I’d recommend sticking with Conan Doyle over this.

just like Sherlock Holmes...

I absolutely enjoyed all the stories within this collection...especially as they were narrated by Stephen Fry, he needs to work on that Japanese accent!!🤣

Entertaining collection

A well read collection of stories unfortunately it lacks a proper index, leaves one guessing titles and chapters. Frustrating.
