Story
Victorian Scotland is becoming less strange to modern-day homicide detective Mallory Atkinson. Though inhabiting someone else’s body will always be unsettling, even if her employers know that she’s not actually housemaid Catriona Mitchell, ever since the night both of them were attacked in the same dark alley 150 years apart. She’s drawn to an alley, where she is attacked and loses consciousness. May 20, 1869: Housemaid Catriona Thomson had been enjoying a half-day off, only to be discovered that night in a lane, where she’d been strangled and left for dead. When Mallory wakes up in Catriona's body in 1869, she must put aside her shock and adjust quickly to the reality.

Genevieve has secrets that no one knows. In Rome she can be whoever she wants to be. Her neighbours aren't nosy; her Italian is passable; the shopkeepers and restaurant owners now see her as a local, and they let her be. It's exactly what she wants. One morning, after getting groceries, she returns to her 500-year-old Trastevere apartment - it's exactly as she left it, not a thing out of place...except for the small box on her kitchen table. A box that definitely wasn't there this morning. A box that is addressed to "Lucy Callahan." A name that she hasn't used in 10 years.

Elena Michaels is the world’s only female werewolf. And she’s tired of it. Tired of a life spent hiding and protecting, a life where her most important job is hunting down rogue werewolves. Tired of a world that not only accepts the worst in her–her temper, her violence—but requires it. Worst of all, she realizes she’s growing content with that life, with being that person.

Publisher's Summary
A new spine-tingling thriller from the best-selling master of edge-of-your-seat stories.
When Casey Duncan first arrived at Rockton, the off-the-grid, isolated community built as a haven for people running from their pasts, she had no idea what to expect. There are no cell phones, no Internet, no mail, and no way of getting in or out without the town council's approval. She certainly didn't expect to become the town homicide detective. But the very last thing she expected was for the council to drop a dangerous criminal into their midst without a plan to keep him imprisoned. And she never thought that she'd have to be responsible for him.
The longer Oliver Brady stays in town, the more people seem to die around him. When evidence begins piling up that someone inside Rockton is working as his accomplice, Casey races to figure out who exactly Brady is and what crimes he's truly responsible for committing.
With dangerous secrets and heart-stopping twists, This Fallen Prey is Kelley Armstrong's most gripping thriller yet.
What the critics say
"Kelley Armstrong's solid Casey Duncan series, set in Yukon, is turning into one of the best new finds of the decade. Armstrong has always been a particular talent, but Duncan and the Yukon are definitely her inspiration. This Fallen Prey is the best Rockton novel so far." (The Globe and Mail)
"Armstrong continues to expand the highly original Rockton world." (Kirkus Reviews)
"Armstrong delivers surprising twists and keeps readers guessing about who the next victim might be." (Publishers Weekly)

a little too much focus on dog training...
Up to her usual snuff....the storyline feels exactly the same as the previous two. Not bad but waaaay too much focus on training the dog in the storyline, and misguided "approaches" for the amount of detail put in. Spends so much detail on training the dog that it feels like the author's social justice standpoint on the matter... Like she wrote the book specifically to put out her view on dog training, and not because she wanted to give us a new and interesting angle on her fiction. If you're annoyed at how much I mention dog training in this review, you will feel the same about the book.

Great story and narrator!
Love this author, series and really enjoy the narrator. My only complaint is the pronunciation of the word toque. It is read as toke which is absolutely incorrect and frustrating to hear, it's pronounced tooke!

Too much angst and gore
There is far too much gratuitous angst (from the narrator, not the performer), and way, WAY too much loving description of hideous gore. Yuck. I got less than halfway through. I stuck with it out of curiosity to find out what would happen next, but the unending series of bad things happening finally got to me.

Very good
The story was less cohesive then the other books. Seems there was a lot happening at the same time that didn't quite connect together. But very good all the same, I always enjoy Kelley books
