Publisher's Summary

Is your life real or is the world you live in a simulation? Are the people you call friends and neighbors living beings with inalienable rights, or are they NPCs - Non-Player Characters - whose soulless path through life is predetermined?

Samael Crane, a brilliant scientist, believes NPCs are all around us. And he can prove it.

When a body is discovered in the bay off Essex, Massachusetts, small town pastor and former Marine plagued by doubts, Ezekiel Ford finds himself called in to identify the deceased. His history is unknown. His full name is a mystery. No one knows where he came from. In fact, Ezekiel seems to be the only person in town who ever really noticed him, living on the fringe of reality, and sometimes in the homeless shelter supported by his church.

Ezekiel’s involvement in the case doesn’t go unnoticed by Samael, who has set out to prove - through deadly means - that NPCs exist, that reality is simulated, and that ‘God’ is a coder with a grudge. The two men’s missions become inextricably entwined, leading them down a path through the gray area between good and evil, science and religion, and reality and simulation, barreling toward a truth that will change the world and humankind’s place in it forever.

New York Times and number one Audible.com best-selling author Jeremy Robinson takes listeners on a journey that is not only action-packed, but full of scientific and philosophical intrigue. In his most mind-bending story since Infinite and Alter, Robinson blends genres, belief systems, and bold prose into an unputdownable tale exploring the nature of reality.

In the audiobook edition he is joined by number one Audible.com best-selling narrators, R.C. Bray and Jeffrey Kafer, creating a truly one-of-a-kind listening experience.

Decent

Bray was excellent, as always. I did however struggle on many occasions to hear what Jeffrey Kafer was saying. Whispered pieces were impossible to hear (given, I mostly listen in my car, but even turning the volume way up it was still difficult to hear what was being said)

Story was decent.

NPC

The book started slow and more than a little strange. I thought it was too crazy to even ponder. But incredibly, soon after the writer brought all his ideas and characters together so beautifully that I not only got it but couldn't stop listening. So instead of enjoying a good book for a couple hours each night, I listened to all of it at once.
This book is well worth the time and money spent on it.

Couldn’t stop listening!

Such a great listen! Action packed, and kept me thinking the whole time!

I think my friends and family are sick of me talking about this book, so I bought them their own copies.
This is the first Jeremy Robinson book I have heard/read, and am now I am an instant fan!

Slow Burn That’s Worth It.

I will be honest. I don’t know if I was in the wrong place at the wrong time, but the first time I attempted listening to this one, I couldn’t get through it. After I don’t know how much time passed, and it had become part of the Infinite Universe, I gave it another shot. It was a slow burn, but that burn exploded and this book became something so much more. It’s almost as if you never get the same book twice from Robinson. I loved the opposing characters with two different narrators. That was fun. Worth the read as a stand-alone or as part of Infinite.

Entertaining Romp with a little depth

I enjoyed it! I like to be challenged a bit by books. This one does that while also keeping things moving and me entertained. Great voice acting as well.

Wow

I went into this book blind. Did not read the synopsis first. It started out as one thing and twisted itself into another. I really enjoyed the journey and the relevations.
Quick easy read and the voice actors are superb.
Highly recommend this.

a great prequel to Infinite 2

This was a great book. I like the bouncing back between Jeffrey Kafer and R.C. Bray for narration. Listen to this before you listen to Infinite 2 as this is connected to the other book in a certain way.

Great story, one half great narrator

I really enjoyed the story. The plot was deep, the possibilities left open even while things were being 'explained'. Up until the very end, there were many fun questions the listener could ponder. The ending was just phenomenal.

The biggest drawback is Jeffery Kafer. His rythm and cadence felt weird, his ruff, gruffy voice felt forced. Every single line he delivers sounds like the cheesiest anime antagonist imaginable. If it weren't for the awesomeness that is RC Bray, i never would have finished it.
Seriously, Bray saves this book.
