Summary

In Neo Babylon, your neural implant is your identity.

You use it as your credit card, to surf the Altnet, to chat with friends, to login to work or school, and to be pestered by advertisements. Anyone without one is cut off from society.

Nick can’t get a neural implant. That fact turns his daily life into hell, but the city's underworld has its plans for him. Being invisible to the city’s omnipresent tracking has its perks. Without a neural presence, he’s someone who is felt but not seen—a wraith.

His natural advantage leads him to work on illegal projects, including one to create human-like AI “dolls.” Until the government shuts down everything and Nick is reduced to a life of back-office IT drudgery, under strict monitoring.

But the city isn't done with him, and the police soon knock on his door. Those advanced dolls he created are now Babylon’s law enforcement. And they have an offer for Nick: help them reshape the city and root out corruption from the inside.

Who better to investigate the city than a man who cannot be seen by it?

Very good work and engaging in every way.
I would recommend listening to it if you have the chance.

Absolutely perfect

Neural Wraith is a dystopian science fiction novel involving detectives and robots with artificial intelligence. It's about a programmer cut off from the network who is irresistible to AIs. And it's about action, crime, politics, beer and sex.

Harem books are often pretty awful. This one isn't. There is a good reason for the AIs to all be interested in our main character, and the relationships are interesting. The first sex scene - the ONLY sex scene - is ten hours into the book, and done awkwardly, realistically, and with care. The harem works well when you realize they're all robots. The main character is no god among men, no overpowered protagonist, yet he succeeds. He's a good human being, yet not perfect. The novel ends with a satisfying conclusion, but I was sad to see it go - sad enough that I bought the sequel before finishing the epilogue.

The narrator is excellent. It took me a while to get used to her, but she makes each character come alive, male and female both.

All in all, well worth the credit.

Surprisingly good

Theres a certain comedy and charm weaved through the futuristic noir mystery. The harem threads are woven through the story, with 1 "spicy" scene, but the scene is well earned within the story, and happens only after we see the relationship earned. The catfights between the dolls over the story had me laughing out loud. The only complaint I have is during the final chapter there's alot of time clearly setting up threads for future installments. Its one thing to have 1 strong thread in the last chapter, but this was several back to back.

Nearly Perfect

This is a a great crime/ action story with a tastefully written R18 scene. If you come to this story expecting trashy smut scenes you will be disappointed.
This is a story with depth and a bit of mystery. Dont expect a harem, cliche filled story. Stephanie Savannah does an amazing job with the narration. She nails the inflection and mood in every scene and every character.
Cyberpunk murder mystery, android love triangles and rolling gunfights. What more can I ask for?
