About this listen

The corpse of a young woman is found on a golf course. Clues are few until Sussex Police discover she was a student...and a model on a pornographic website run by two of her tutors. Technically, the deviant owners of this website are doing nothing illegal.

DI Henderson is forced to face his prejudices, resulting in an explosive confrontation. University has just become a very dangerous place.

This story was a bit confusing and the plot haywire.
Not my favourite listen.
The narrator had a deep accent that was a bit difficult to understand. He also tended to whisper the end of sentences.
Glad it was for free.

Not the best book

This Iain Cameron story - set in Scotland - relates a Mystery involving dirtbag University professors sleeping with their students and recruiting them to an amateur pornographic website for fun and profit. Detective Inspector 'Angus Henderson' wrestles with moral outrage while trying to solve murders surrounded by casually salacious circumstances.
The writing is capable - albeit unspectacular - and I enjoyed Cameron's discussion of ethics & immorality.. but the author's character development is strikingly weak and his dialogue is stilted.

Subpar narration from reader David Gillies doubtless contributed to my "disappointed" evaluation of the book, too. To be sure, his diction, timbre, and cadence are professional.. but his tone is over-the-top emotive at times, his female voices sound affected, and his natural Scottish accent overwhelms the text too often.

Altogether, 'One Last Lesson' merits 5 stars out of 10. I didn't find it a complete waste of time as a 'Plus' offering.. but spend your Credit elsewhere when the book leaves the "included with your subscription" catalog.
