Story
Labeled variously a realistic story of whaling, a romance of unusual adventure and eccentric characters, a symbolic allegory, and a drama of heroic conflict, Moby Dick is first and foremost a great story. It has both the humor and poignancy of a simple sea ballad, as well as the depth and universality of a grand odyssey.

Publisher's Summary
Audible Studios presents two new recordings of George Orwell's most celebrated novels – 1984 and Animal Farm – with exclusive introductions, written and performed by Stephen Fry.
1984
The classic dystopian social science fiction novel first published on 8th June 1949 as Orwell's ninth and final book completed in his lifetime. One of the most brilliant satires on totalitarianism and the power-hungry ever written, introducing new language as words of warning for future generations; 1984, Newspeak, Doublethink, Thought Police, Big Brother is watching you....
Animal Farm
One of the most influential works of the 20th century. A socio-political allegory that reflects events leading up to the Russian Revolution of 1917 and then on into the Stalinist era of the Soviet Union. Set in a farmyard, where the animals decide to seize the farmer's land and create a co-operative that reaps the benefits of their combined labours. Four legs good, two legs bad....
About the narrator
Stephen Fry is an English actor, screenwriter, author, playwright, journalist, poet, comedian, television presenter, film director and all-round national treasure. Whilst at university, Fry became involved with the Cambridge Footlights, where he met his long-time collaborator and friend Hugh Laurie. As half of the comic double act Fry and Laurie, he co-wrote and co-starred in A Bit of Fry & Laurie and Jeeves and Wooster. Fry’s acting roles include Blackadder, Kingdom, Bones, V for Vendetta, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and The Hobbit trilogy. He has written and presented several documentary series and as a proudly out gay man, the award-winning Out There, documenting the lives of lesbian, bisexual gay and transgender people around the world is part of his 30-year advocacy of the rights of the LGBT community. Fry has written four novels, The Liar, The Hippopotamus (made in to a feature film in 2018), Making History and The Stars’ Tennis Balls. Translated into many languages, they have never been out of print. The most recently published works are Mythos and Heroes, constituting the first two parts of what will be a trilogy retelling the Greeks myths from the Creation to the aftermath of the Trojan War. Troy was published in November 2020.
Includes original theme music by renowned composer Carly Paradis, who is known for scoring the BBC’s Line of Duty and Netflix’s production of The Innocents. Featuring strings performed by Robert Ames, co-founder of the world-famous London Contemporary Orchestra.

I'm so glad I got this one. Both books are more relevant than ever. If you're struggling to get through a class, or want to give a classic another go... this is your duo. The narration is beyond on point, esp for 1984

The Awakening has started
In the light of what is happening in the world now It was time to listen to those remarkable books. Everyone should hear them with in mind that if we don’t fight the evil it will come after you eventually.
The totalitarian fiction spun from Orwells realisation of the darkness brought to societies by Utopian Ideologies and what they really brought to humanity and are now as we speak overrunning the whole world.
Sad but true: Human nature is not good when not humbled with limited power.
Steven Fry is just the perfect narrator for those stories.

I would like to thank Stephen Fry for narrating this book. Otherwise, I would've dropped this when I got to the middle of 1984. It was tedious to listen to, and so I imagine it would be more so if I actually read it. However, it was scary how the events in 1984 could still be applied in today's society. Some are in a smaller scale, while others are in a larger scale. The brainwashing, the tampering on documents, the lies... such events really spoke volumes to me.
However, Animal Farm was such a delight! The writing was engaging and vivid. Thus, I enjoyed listening to this a lot more than 1984.
Still, I'm giving this collection 4 stars because of George Orwell's ingenious writing.

George Orwell was very much indeed a prophet!
The narration by Stephen Fry is exceptional and his performance is worth the Audible credit alone. I had forgotten how depressing 1984 was. Perhaps for very similar reasons, I'm finding 2021 quite disturbing and depressing. The fact is, WE ARE living in ORWELLIAN times and I fear there is no turning back. Highly recommended.

Impossible to read, irresistible to listen to
A very dark and depressing story made all the more depressing by the knowledge that this sort of society actually exists to some degree in some parts of the world.
I don’t think I would have been able to read it in its entirety (in fact I have made several attempts before) but Stephen Fry’s wonderful narration gave it a wonderful texture and I could hardly stop listening at times.
Possibly the rigours and pace of modern society has done what Newspeak set out to do deliberately by the pruning of language, ie making thought impossible which surely reading would require but just enjoy the joy or unjoy ride that listening provides
