Publisher's Summary

An absolutely gripping psychological thriller with a brilliant twist

Marianne has a life others dream of. A beautiful townhouse on the best street in the neighbourhood. Three bright children who are her pride and joy.

Sometimes her past still hurts: losing her mother early, growing up in foster care. But her husband, Simon, is always there. A successful surgeon, he’s the envy of every woman they’ve ever met. Flowers, gifts, trips to France: nothing is too good for his family.

Then Simon says another woman’s name. The way he lingers on it, Caroline, gives Marianne a shudder of suspicion, but she knows it’s nothing - she can’t entertain this flash of paranoia.

In the old days, she’d have distracted herself by excelling at work, but Marianne left her glamorous career when she married. She’d speak to a friend, but she’s too busy with her children and besides, Simon doesn’t approve of the few she has left.

It’s almost by accident that Marianne starts to learn more about Caroline. But once started, she can’t stop, because what she finds makes her wonder: is the question she should be asking not "should I be jealous" but..."should I be scared?"

Fans of The Girl on the Train and I Let You Go who are looking for a dark, gripping psychological thriller with a final twist to put their jaw on the floor will love Our Little Lies.

Couldn’t get past the main character

I can’t stand the weak, pathetic, whiny female leads who demur and defer to men/husbands and other women characters, and act so insecure as to be so unlikeable in so many of these books - I couldn’t get past the first chapter despite multiple attempts. Had to return it.

Fluffy entertainment

I accidentally listened to this twice. I guess that makes it both unmemorable and entertaining!

Kept me coming back for more.

Really liked this book and the narrator. Many twists and turns kept me coming back for more.

what to even say...

The only reason I made it through this book was because of the narrator. The first half of this book is unbelievably annoying. Both main characters are insufferable. Marianne's inner dialogue drove me nuts, she literally repeated her thoughts and feelings over and over again. I wish we got to hear Simon's inner dialogue it would have at least broke up the monotony (even though he was turd). The twist didn't feel believable at all, I wasn't shocked or even interested at this point just annoyed with all the characters.

Page turner for me

Great book. Got better and better. Of course always a surprising twist at the end.

Not as suspenseful as expected

Chose this book at random and am not overly thrilled with the choice. Parts of the book continued to drag on, beating it into you how horrible and manipulating Maryanne's marriage was to her husband. Far too many "hash tag" uses and became annoying to listen to. Would not recommend.

A little long in the tooth, but good overall

This story was good, but it went on for far too long with little repetitive details. I actually increased speed to 1.20x to keep it moving.

Suspenseful up until the end

I enjoyed listening to this book. The narration was excellent. I liked the author's detailed descriptions and language. I'll read her other books as well. Brava!

Struggled to finish it.

I did push through the whole book hoping it would get better. It did not. I’m sorry I wasted my time.!
