Publisher's Summary

What is the boy crisis?

It's a crisis of education. For the first time in American history, our sons will have less education than their dads.

It's a crisis of mental health. As boys become young men, their suicide rates go from equal to girls to six times that of young women.

It's a crisis of sexuality. Sex is a minefield for our sons. They're bombarded with mixed messages, afraid of being either too sensitive or not sensitive enough.

It's a crisis of fathering. Boys with less-involved fathers are more likely to drop out of school, drink, do drugs, become delinquent, and end up in prison.

It's a crisis of purpose. Boys' old senses of purposes, being a warrior, a leader, or a sole breadwinner, are fading. Many bright boys are experiencing a "purpose void", feeling alienated, withdrawn, and addicted to immediate gratification. Compounding this issue are addicting video games that lead to distraction and ADHD.

So, what is The Boy Crisis? A comprehensive blueprint for what parents, teachers, and policy-makers can do to renew our sons' sense of purpose to help them become men, fathers, and leaders worthy of our respect.

Insightful

Very interesting content on a less-discussed topic. There is a large section on ADHD treatment through homeopathy and nutrition which detracts from the main points, but most is insightful.

Eye-opening and a real game-changer

They present so many eye-opening stats it's really a book everyone should hear! it's great to know that all men aren't evil as society would have you believe. it's also great to have something to help defend men/dads/boys in this way. we do have a purpose void and this book was an awakening for me to understand things I've seen for years but never really picked up on the subtle causes of in people.

Amazing

There's not enough time to describe the importance of this book. Simply put, everyone with a son or nephew at the very least should own a copy

Great for Parents

this is a great book for parents of both daughters and sons, really the only disagreement I have is near the conclusion. it explains in pretty good detail on societal shifts and attitudes towards both genders. The struggles that mainly the boys have, while it doesn't go into too much detail on the girls struggle, the one thing to consider is if one gender suffers then the other by default will as well.

A must read for all parents of boys.

Excellent book. Great information for those parents struggling with children with ADD and autism.
Scary truths about the foods we eat and the results it has on our bodies.

Pretty good listen overall

I really enjoyed most parrs of this book. The first half was very inriguing for those of us whi grrw up dad deprived.

Then it got a little deep in the 'beimg a dad' side for any of us without kids.

Incredible and a MUST read.

This is probably the most important book of the century. Hurt boys hurt everyone and this is clear. If we empower men, we also empower women by default and since women are now more empowered than ever before, here is our chance to change our actions for more secure humans and men who are emotionally available and have a strong sense of empathy and compassion.
