While The Seanchan Are A Worthy Enemy..
..feel free to skip.
Dragon Reborn Rand al'Thor - and allies - continues mustering, building, and fortifying his forces for the coming battle against the Dark Forces escaping Shayol Ghul. In this installment, our heroes continue to confront skeptical factions within the alliance (plus endure outright murderous treachery) - as well as face Aes Sedai forces (Red & Black Ajah) out of the White Tower and Foresaken/"Chosen" scheming - but the chief foe is the empire of Seanchan [As represented by huge forces that include riders of dragon-like flying lizards, legions of mounted archers, and warriors using "Damani" (enslaved channeling women) to blast enemies with The Power].
Robert Jordan essentially crafts a "side plot" in this book (nothing in the overall story arc is resolved.. or even advanced much).
The story is action-infused, includes illuminating inner conflicts in characters, is loaded with interesting confrontational debates between friends & erstwhile allies, and exhibits Jordan's characteristic well-choreographed and well-described combat & battles.. but doesn't present anything new.
I personally didn't encounter any of the technical/sound quality problems noted by other listeners.. but, then again, I downloaded the book about 18 months ago - opting to listen to it when I got the time (Maybe it's a recent problem? Maybe corrected? Maybe only obvious with earbuds?).
Regardless, this is one of the best reading performances that I have heard from husband & wife tandem Kate Reading and Michael Kramer. In fact, the narration is *brilliant*: from Reading's spot-on slurring "Seanchan accent" to Kramer's evident amusement when reading exasperated/humorous dialogue.
I rate 'Path Of Daggers' 8 stars out of 10. Fans of WoT will doubtless enjoy this episode on it's face (involving Jordan's continuously evolving imaginative setting & well-loved characters) - while readers merely trying to get to the climactic confrontation can move on to Book 9 without missing much.

A wonderful story
you can tell by now, compared to the first few books, the author and voice actors have hit their stride, every moment, every sentence has meaning and pushes a narrative. Looking forward to the next few.

Interesting setup for future books, refreshing change of pace
I enjoyed the fact that he strayed from the regular pace of the earlier books. There wasn’t an exciting beginning a boring middle, and a big battle scene with a forsaken killed at the end like there was for every other book. The ending was more of a setup for severs plot points, which is exciting.
I LOVED Elayne’s and Nyneave’s parts at the start of the book. Dealing with different groups of powerful women was exciting and posed a lot of questions about how each group would fit into the white tower and the dragon reborn’s schemes.
Randy’s story line with the sanchean was also very interesting. They were probably the most interesting culture and I was so excited for their comeback. I loved how Rands stance on women in battle affected this with the moral issues around suldam and damane. There are other issues and plots from that battle that blow up in Rand’s face at the end of the book.
Lastly, there wasn’t any part of the book that was too hard to get through for me this time. It may be because I checked out any time nobles are mentioned lol

A step up
listened to all of the books but I have to say that the narrators really stepped up their game in this one. 10/10 performance from both of them. bravo

Fantastic
Classic Robert Jordan wonder. Michael and Kate are amazing voice actors for this, they really make the characters come alive and I could (and do) listen to their voices for hours and hours.
