Publisher's Summary

One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.

In Pride and Prejudice, the Bennet sisters try to find their way in the repressive strictures of 19th-century society. Austen shows the folly of judging by first impressions and the experience of falling in love, and she superbly describes a world which, despite being more than two centuries old, still resonates with modern concerns.

Great read!

I have always had difficulty reading Jane Austen, but for the first time, I was able to fully enjoy this work of literature through the performance of Rosamund Pike. She truly gave life and energy to the story and it was honestly difficult to stop listening.
I highly recommend!

Perfect

I love the fact that Rosamund is reprising her role from the movie adaptation and she sometimes says Lizzie’s lines like Kiera acted them.

Pure delight!

Brings the story to life

Rosamund Pike's narration was incredible. She uses different voices for different characters but subtly enough so as not to be distracting. I had to read this for school and this audiobook really helped me get into the story and made it easy to understand Austen's old fashioned use of language. I got drawn right into the book as if it were a radio play! Excellent version of this classic book. Highly recommended.

Rosamund Pike was a perfect narrator

I honestly can’t say enough about Rosamund Pike’s narration! She gave everyone such an individual voice but it wasn’t jokey or too “charactery”. By a quarter of the way through the book you know who is speaking by the subtle (and not so subtle) changes in voice. She has the most beautiful speaking voice and great pacing and cadence. If you’ve never read this book, or like me, have had this book unread on your shelf for years, this is a perfect way to hear this story. I honestly can’t wait to hear it again.

I couldn’t get past the first few chapters

The voice just doesn’t work for me in any way, but voice is subjective. The voices are painful to me so please sample before buying this.

A classic, deservedly

Not the type of book that I usually read, but appreciated the writing, the story and character development. Deserves all the accolades. Narration by Rosamund Pike is excellent.
