Publisher's Summary

Have you been desiring to improve your public speaking and storytelling abilities to boost your business or personal brand and have tried all manner of things to be more composed, charismatic, and come up with captivating stories to keep your audiences concerned, but the results seem dismal?

Are you looking for a guide that will help you unlock the world of effective public speaking and storytelling so that you come off as authentic and give your presentations greater impact while moving crowds like some of your favorite public speakers?

If you’ve answered yes, keep reading...

You are about to discover exactly how to master the craft of public speaking and blend it with effective storytelling to propel your business and personal brand to the next level!

In business, stories have a powerful meaning and function besides offering entertainment value. They connect people with other people, brands, and businesses and provide context, meaning, and evoke a sense of purpose.

Notably, stories are as important as the ability to tell them. Good stories go hand in hand with good public-speaking skills, but unfortunately, you might be good in one and not the other, or none altogether.

Like most people who understand the importance of having great storytelling and public speaking skills, you might often wonder:

  • How do I create and tell good stories in business?
  • What kind of stories are the best?
  • How do I overcome my fear of speaking in public?
  • How do I write a good speech?

If so, then this beginners’ two-in-one book is clearly the perfect resource for you. You will learn how to create and tell stories that inspire and convert as well as how to confidently relay them through public speaking best practices.

More precisely, you’ll learn:

  • What brand storytelling refers to
  • The benefits of storytelling in business
  • Great examples of storytelling done right
  • How to tell a compelling story in simple steps
  • Why it’s important to explore storytelling in business
  • What makes a powerful story so?
  • What you need to know about storytelling in finance
  • How you can find a suitable story
  • Why statistics don’t sell and stories do
  • How to speak in public confidently
  • Why public speaking makes us nervous
  • The symptoms of glassophobia
  • How to create a good speech
  • How to speak in public like a pro
  • How to overcome fear for effective public speaking
  • Why public speaking matters nowadays
  • How to become an efficient public speaker by optimizing your pitch, tempo and inflection
  • The most important things you need to consider to be a good public speaker
  • How to analyze your audience
  • And much more!

Humans are naturally receptive to stories and communication that helps them empathize, relate, understand, and remember. They also respond pretty well to confidence and credible content.

You can imagine what you can achieve by being a good storyteller and public speaker, how much you can gain from convinced, engaged, and loyal listeners. I know that would mean a lot for your business and personal brand. And that’s just what this two-in-one book will help you to achieve, even if you consider yourself awkward, not creative, inexperienced, and more!

Great For Listening.

It’s a short and mostly effective listen, suitable for anyone who wants to be a better storyteller. It’s mostly geared towards the complete beginner but the tips on grabbing attention and sparking curiosity are suited for more advanced writers as well. But the thing I like the most with this book is that it makes it feel like you, yourself, are interesting since it urges you to draw from your own experience in order to capture attention, and convey emotion. I have a feeling that I will revisit this book from time to time, partly because of the practical tools offered, but also because of the opportunity to reflect. Also I think it’s important to remember that if you get something out of a listen, that is something very positive. And sometimes the short and maybe not as comprehensive book is more rewarding than the big, lengthy one you never actually listen. So I’m glad to recommend this book for what it is!

Supper Book.

Storytelling: A Guide to How to Tell a Story was helpful to me. From reading some of the other reviews, I was not sure it would be. But, actually, I learned some things from the book about storytelling. For example, I gained a better understanding of how important emotion is to telling a great story. The author stresses the necessity of emotional engagement and offers some simple ways deepen the “feeling” component of a story. Also, I found the discussion on structure to be useful. The author did a good job of summarizing insights from Michael Hauge and Christopher Vogler. Admittedly, as one reviewer states, this part of the book was derivative. But I’m not sure that mattered all that much to me. I was pleased to have the insights of these two great minds presented in an accessible manner. Another benefit I gained from the book was the set of exercises the author details to help generate stories. Bottom line: I learned to make sure my stories incorporate proven structure, express my feelings, and connect with my listeners. I think you will gain from the book as well.

Very Helpful Book

All good stories are built upon which three elements? Those three element collectively are known as the plot. Conflict equals emotional reaction which is another important part of storytelling. How do you incorporate it? There are five turning points present in every movie which could/should also be in books and your stories. As you listen this book you will likely recognize the pattern that you have listen time and time again. How does the author illustrate this pattern? By referencing the movie Nemo!

I like this book.

The author writes in a conversational style which makes this book very easy to listen and uses lots of anecdotes and amusing stories to illustrate his points. I actually bought this book to help me talk in front of a camera for social media posts and not a live audience but a lot of the pillars are relevant to that medium as well.

Good Quality Book.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening this book. It was so well written, easy to follow and the content is gold. Having been to a few of Kyle's workshops and really benefitted from his tips and advice, I was eager to listen his first book and it did not disappoint. My confidence and skills in public speaking have soared since finding Kyle's workshops and the book. I highly recommend investing in both.
