Publisher's Summary
Eli knows corruption runs deep within the compound. It's a reality he's forced to confront every year on Bid Day. But when your job is to go out into the radiation-soaked Fringe so that others can live in peace, you don't ask too many questions.
For Harper, the bid system works just fine. She's the best developer in her year, and she's confident she'll find a place among the wealthy, respected Systems workers. But when an upset in the bidding changes the course of Harper's future, she'll be forced to rely on an unlikely ally - dark, unreadable Eli Parker.
In her search for answers, Harper will learn that in the compound, the truth doesn't set you free. It gets you killed.

Really fun listen
I really enjoyed Benner's Recon. The narrators did an excellent job. I was so into it, it was hard to press pause. Though Recon has similar elements to other popular dystopian series, Benner has successfully created her own, believable world. I just wish there was a bit more backstory, but I'm hoping to find out in the next book! It's a great, fun listen

Good for those who liked Hunger Games and Divergent
The series was worth listening to. Made it through all 5 of the books in a few days without becoming overly annoyed with the characters or storyline.

Great way to catch up before the final installment
I've read all of Tarah's books on Kindle, and I received the audio books of The Fringe through a contest leading into the release of Lockdown. This is a great story told in a very interesting way. The narration adds a new dimension to the story, full of emotion and inflections at just the right moments. I highly recommend this and all of Tarah's work, especially if you enjoy well thought out dystopian future stories.

addicting
my fiance and I love this series. We were hooked after listening to the first one together he ended up listening to the next four stories before I could finish the third. Love the story line, love the narrators. The only thing I would change is toning down Elis sexual comments about other women. it's a little toxic and objectifying.

A predictable romance
Starts off like a good dystopian novel... then it's all about a predictable 'romance' centered around confusing looks for personality. I wanted them to screw each other just so the junior high bull would end and a plot might happen.
I would give it to a 12-14 year old girl who has the patience to read about the outfits each character wears and how sexy their: hair, eyes, expressions, kitchen sink... is. And likes romances defined by telling the reader that the characters like each other without giving them personalities that play off each other or that make a relationship realistic.
