Publisher's Summary

November 2009. An emaciated young lawyer, Sergei Magnitsky, is led to a freezing isolation cell in a Moscow prison, handcuffed to a bed rail, and beaten to death by eight police officers. His crime? To testify against the Russian Interior Ministry officials who were involved in a conspiracy to steal $230 million of taxes paid to the state by one of the world's most successful hedge funds. Magnitsky's brutal killing has remained uninvestigated and unpunished to this day. His farcical posthumous show-trial brought Putin's regime to a new low in the eyes of the international community.

Red Notice is a searing expose of the wholesale whitewash by Russian authorities of Magnitsky's imprisonment and murder, slicing deep into the shadowy heart of the Kremlin to uncover its sordid truths. Bill Browder - the hedge fund manager who employed Magnitsky - takes us on his explosive journey from the heady world of finance in New York and London in the 1990s, through his battles with ruthless oligarchs in the turbulent landscape of post-Soviet Union Moscow, to his expulsion from Russia on Putin's orders. Browder's graphic portrait of the Russian government as a criminal enterprise wielding all the power of a sovereign state illuminates his personal transformation from financier to human rights activist, campaigning for justice for his late lawyer and friend.

With fraud, bribery, corruption, and torture exposed at every turn, Red Notice is a shocking but true political roller-coaster that plays out in the highest echelons of Western power.

Editorial Review

Murder, high finance, scandal and justice—Red Notice has it all.

Red Notice: A True Story of High Finance, Murder and One Man's Fight for Justice by Bill Browder is a high-stakes tale of corruption and death as shocking as it is true. Browder himself was a hedge fund manager who got embroiled in the twisting and turning dealings of corrupt Russian Interior Ministry officials. In his retelling of the events, no bit of action or shocking betrayal is left out, and the story takes on a life of its own.

Red Notice is at once a cautionary tale and an unabashed uncovering of the deep corruption within the Russian government. From bribery to heists, an art thief to large scale hedge funds, this story travels from New York to Moscow covering the murder of Sergei Magnitsky and all the crimes leading up to it. This story reveals the fraud, brutality and government-level conspiracy within Russia, and showcases Browder's own journey to become a political rights activist.

This audiobook adaptation will have listeners on the edge of their seats, unable to press pause. Action-packed, shocking and alarming in its truth, Red Notice is a gripping tale of power and those that wield it. The audiobook is narrated by Adam Grupper, who has voiced a number of best-selling books on Audible. His dramatic reading and impressive accents only add to the story, helping listeners feel transported into a dark world of Russian corruption, power and deceit.

Must read. Excellent book

Like others have said, incredible story and so fantastical because it's true. well written and presented.

Really gives insight in how Russia is a failed state ruled by a fascist dictator who basically leads a massive mafia.

What it reveals about Russia shouldn't surprise us... but it does. The story is unbelievable... but it's true.

Russian corruption revealed

Congratulations to Bill Browder and the men and women, lawyers, politicians and businesses who supported and moved the highest courts in the world to enforce the Magnitsky Law! It takes a rare and special person to not only take on a person but a whole country a corrupt government? That took great fortitude and character!

Excellent and enlightening read.

Blew through this with morbid fascination. Relevant given Putin's ongoing invasion of Ukraine today. And sadly, world leaders sit on their hands and allow this thug to proceed, all the while threatening repercussions. He won't stop at Ukraine.
