Publisher's Summary

A cultivation world destined for destruction. A man fated to destroy it. There’s a prophecy to ignore.

Jim was thrust back in time, returned to his body at the moment he started cultivating. Anyone else might have given up, but Jim doesn’t have that option. He’s already made the mistakes that doomed him in his first life, and he knows what to do to make it right. Jim wants to right the wrongs of the past...or future? All while a pair of angry gods torture him through lack of sleep.

He must find a way to reach the top of the cultivation world without drawing the attention of those who would take his knowledge of the future for themselves. Jim has seen how the world ended, and he is determined to fight his way through the world’s hidden foes and defeat his destiny.

Weakened to merely a shadow of his former strength, he quickly learns that fighting alone may not be his best option, even though fate seems to like it that way.

Luckily for the world, Jim thinks fate is stupid. He doesn’t care what it wants.

Pretty good

It was weird to listen to a Asian cultivator type story with people having names like Jim or Cory. The MC was not over powdered but used his head like an actual person. The story was actually straight forward and fun. It was also refreshing to find a MC that isn't squimish on blood, standing around debating on the morals of killing evil people and lastly not zone out like an idiot. The proformance by Travis Baldree was excellent.

Awesome start!

I had a great time listening to this book. I can't wait to see what other situations Jim and his family get into. I am currently listening to the second book.

Good introduction to the genre

Good worldbuilding, each characters have their own personality.
Some elements of the story give a vibe of deja vu, but the story is interesting noneheless

Fantastic read

Great read. Loved the story. Narrator was top notch. I love reincarnation and cultivation stories.

*spoilers*
There were a few plot holes. Jim says the only time in his first life he met the current clan leader was when he was kicked out of the clan. Which was established to have happened at age 15 which wasn't for 5 years. Yet counsel man Esu was supposed to breakthrough in his cultivation within days. AND Jim's parents had been missing for awhile. All of this coup stuff would have been in the works for long before Jim reincarnated, yet it never happened in the whole 5 years after he touched the stone in his first life.

Also Jim only used light by itself chi the one time when he learned to do it. And used dark chi many times even though he was warned to balance the usage. Any other uses of it were when he drew on all types of chi at once but never to balance for his dark chi usage.
