Publisher's Summary

From the world's number-one best-selling author comes a story of revenge as a former SAS soldier is ready to settle into civilian life when he's hired to solve the mysterious death of a daughter, diving into a seedy world that a parent never expects to see their child in.

Former SAS soldier David Shelley was part of the most covert operations team in the special forces. Now settling down to civilian life in London, he has plans for a safer and more stable existence. But the shocking death of a young woman Shelley once helped protect puts those plans on hold.

The police rule the death a suicide but the grieving parents can't accept their beloved Emma would take her own life. They need to find out what really happened, and they turn to their former bodyguard, Shelley, for help.

When they discover that Emma had fallen into a dark and seedy world of drugs and online pornography, the father demands retribution. But his desire for revenge will make enemies of people that even Shelley may not be able to protect them from, and take them into a war from which there may be no escape.

Definitely Recommend

The story line was really great. I have to say the twist it self was not a surprise, but the specifics of who and when was a surprise.
the Narrator was really good, my only criticism would be the lingo. I don't always get some of the English/British meanings, but it was well performed. I could complete imagine Jason Statham as the main character. Great read/listen.

Amazing Book

The time flew by as the story unfolded. The narrator was awesome and he enhanced the enjoyment for sure. I would highly recommend this book and hope to see it as a movie someday.

Amazing!

As is typical with James Patterson, yet another incredible read! From start to finish you never knew where this book was going to go. The 2nd you thought you had an idea, another twist would come along and completely change the way you thought the story was about to progress. This is why James Patterson is one of the most incredible writers of to day! Hopefully we have not seen the last of the character David Shelley! An excellent character, phenomenal story line, definitely could not put it down! The narrator was fantastic. Could not get enough of this book. I may just listen to it again for the simple fact of the voice not to mention the characters of course.

Triple Crosses and weakly supported entanglements.

So many characters I found myself diagramming the network of players. Typical story line with one double cross after another. Might make an OK action movie, but too weak for a book. Suggest you pass on this one.

Verbiage

Enjoyed the book but did not like the constant use of f word. His books usually refrain from vulgarities.

interesting book.

I was not as fond of this book as others of Patterson's books. However, it did peak my interests enough to finish it.

not a fan

It really wasn't a typical James Patterson novel. It didn't flow the same way and took a long time to get to the point

Awful!

I never thought I would say this about one of James Patterson’s books but this is awful! It is very difficult to follow and the British accents and terminology make it even worse when you were listening to it versus reading it. The hardback might be a better choice but for me I’m sorry I bought it.
