The Echoes of Fate, a Prophecy Uttered Unto the World a Thousand Years Ago, Cannot Be Denied....

Mankind has lorded over the land of Illian for a thousand years, building on the ruins left by the elves, as if it were their birthright. A thousand years is a long time for an immortal race to see the truth of things, a truth that has remained unsaid for a millennium - elves are superior. They are faster, stronger, and connected to the magical realm in a way that man could never grasp. Illian should belong to them.

Unaware of the shadow that looms in the east, the six kingdoms of man are fractured, unallied, and clawing at each other's gates for more power.

This isn't just war set to ravage the land, but a slaughter - the world of man cannot hope to survive.

Thrown into the heart of this war is a man known by many names; an Outlander of the wilds, an assassin, a ranger. Asher was born a thousand years ago, to a life he doesn't remember. Forty years of brutal training and killing for money has beaten the earliest years of his life away, leaving his ties to the oldest of evils a mystery to all....

Great surprise.

Great series and what a great surprise find. Took a chance in this series and it's now one of my faves. I've read most of the epic fantasy series out there and this had great characters, is well narrated and has a good plot that unfolded at a nice pace. No filler. Highly recommend.

The narrator does this story a disservice.

I had a tough time getting through the first third due ti the droning monotone of the narrator to the point I actually bought the book, re-read it, and picked it up again from the audiobook around a third in. The viewpoints consolidate by this point so it’s a little easier to track which POV is being recited.

The story in itself is a good tale: it has a lot of fantastical elements in its story telling, an interesting twist and ends at a place that makes me want to continue. None of the characters are unlikable and your understanding of their POV and motivations grow as the story moves forward.

I liked the action sequences, and the humour is just the right touch to defuse some of the tension.

excellent fantasy book! great story and story telling.

I took a random chance on this book, and I was very surprised! it was excellent. this story has vibes from many different stories that like , while still maintaining excellent originality. It has LOTR/GOT/Legend of zelda/witcher vibes. While having similar feelings as all these mentioned storylines , it still maintains its own world and feel . The characters are all very enjoyable. I am very excitted to continue on with the series. 10/10 for me.
would make an excellent show if the right people were to get behind it!

interesting story can't wait to hear the sequel

I really liked the story in general but would like more details when supporting statements are made as thought they were a known fact I.e. elven abilities. The narrator was way too fast and lacked expression. I do recommend the book to others.

So hard to get into

I'm a long time fantasy novel fan but I found this book so hard to follow. The story lines don't feel connected and the characters are confusing. The narrator also reads in a very toneless voices.
