Story
In 1761, on a sunny day in September, a King and Queen met for the very first time. They were married within hours. Born a German Princess, Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz was beautiful, headstrong, and fiercely intelligent… not precisely the attributes the British Court had been seeking in a spouse for the young King George III. But her fire and independence were exactly what she, and her King, needed. Because George has secrets… secrets with the potential to shake the very foundations of the monarchy.

Publisher's Summary
Twice Claire has used an ancient stone circle to travel back to the 18th century. The first time she found love with a Scottish warrior but had to return to the 1940s to save their unborn child. The second time, 20 years later, she reunited with her lost love but had to leave behind the daughter that he would never see. Now Brianna, from her 1960s vantage point, has found a disturbing obituary and will risk everything in an attempt to change history.
Davina Porter's narrative talent adds a special vibrance and resonance to Gabaldon's complex, colorful characters.
What the critics say
Featured Article: The Best Female Narrators You Can Listen To All Day
When considering a new audiobook, one of the biggest questions listeners have is whether they’ll enjoy the narration style. This is understandable as audiobooks span at least a few hours, and sticking with one person’s voice for that period can feel like a big commitment. Luckily, there are so many excellent voice actors performing audiobooks that you might just find yourself gravitating to certain audiobooks based solely on the narrator’s strength.

I could do WITHOUT the sex scenes
I LOVE the story, the details of historical significance are epic. Characters are strong and penetrate to your very marrow. Enticing you to buy the next book and so on until you get to the end. God seems very superficial in their lives. I wonder how true the depiction is here to the errs?

Davina Porter is delightful!
Loved it! This is my first audible book, but I can already tell it is going to be difficult to listen to anyone other than Davina narrate. I have loved the Outlander series for years now and find it easier to understand and imagine when it is being read aloud. Davina adds so much depth and character to the story that makes listening a delightful experience. I have already downloaded the next book in the series and am looking forward to spending many more hours with Davina and the fascinating story of Jaime and Claire!

disliked the narrator
disliked the narrator, especially after hearing the young, sexy voice of Claire in the tv show, this narrator sounds like a crusty old woman. couldn't continue. will read the ebook instead.

narrator isnt the greatest
the narrator threw me off. I've been watching the shows and have read the first 3 books. the narrator sounds too old as compared to the actress playing the character. almost too prim and proper

Loving this series!
Davina does an amazing job of bringing these characters to life. I have read the books, watched the series, and have been listening when walking the dog or cleaning the house. Every medium has its perks but I have loved listening!

Meh...
I would have to say this book was not the best in the series. I found a lot of repetition and the same devices used as previous books. It lagged and I struggled to finish it. I'm hoping the next one is better.
