Publisher's Summary
At age 11, Alex Sinclair pledges an oath to the Duke of Chatham promising to serve and protect his illegitimate daughter, Lucy FitzHarris. Nine years later, the duke unexpectedly takes Alex up on his vow, offering the future Laird of Balforss his daughter's hand in marriage.

Ok story, annoying narration.
Narrator consistently speaking in downturn tone, which grated on my nerves by chapter 6. Only time it wasn't annoying was when speaking as the characters. Barely made it to the end.

A sweet little highlander romance is always an enjoyable read. I’ll continue with book two next.

An enjoyable love story with a great deal of tension. Set mainly in Scotland. I don’t relate to love stories but it contained elements of intrigue.

Tolerable story. Really disliked the narrator.
I didn’t find there was much early character dev or story. The end of the book gets better. The narrator’s tone was really irritating. I ended up listening at 1.5 speed and it that made the odd monotone sound of her voice tolerable. I will not be continuing with the series or this narrator

captivating
the speaker drew me in and preformed this novel perfectly! the story itself made you feel the depth of each characters feelings and you dove into the story seeing it in your mind!

Narrator ruined the story
I enjoy this type of story however the narrator ruined it for me, I tried but couldn't listen to another chapter with this narrator I made it to chapter 10
