Publisher's Summary
No mazes. No zombies. No games.
After their hurried escape from the Drake Mountain Facility, Isaac and his group stumbled upon a farmhouse in a secluded valley. It's what they've been looking for - a place to make their home, both now and in the future.
Their joy is tempered by questions though. How will they feed and look after themselves, especially with a baby on the way? Was the virus unleashed against the invaders successful, or will they be watching out for their oppressors for the rest of their lives? And...even if they are gone, what other dangers in the post-apocalyptic world await them?
Danger is coming, and only time will tell if they have found the salvation they've been seeking or if their dreams will be crushed, leaving them to the same fate as all of those that died before them.
Rude Shock is the fourth book of the action-packed America Falls post-apocalyptic series.

I Love This Series
This is the first Series I've "Listened to or Read" that was written in the 1st Person... I think the Narrator Could Do better with Different Characters but he Nails Issac Race... The Forlorn sound of his voice makes you feel for him... no matter what he is saying. the Story & Series is a Must Read/Listen To.

Good but a Novella.... to short
I listened to book 1-3 with one credit. I did enjoy the "books" but they are really just one decent length book. Because I was in a hurry I purchased book 4 with one credit. ... and as suspected it was a Novella. However, it did wrap up as a full story..... just not long enough to be worth a credit. Won't buy the last 2 unless they're combined.

A solid 4th book in the series
Isaac and crew finally make it out of Drake Mountain and find a place to call home. Too much happy ending foreshadowing here for it to be true though. This is just the calm before the storm.
I found it interesting that we fast forward a few years living on the farm after getting there and settling in. All the minute details in there aren't important but the passing of time is.
This one was action packed and emotional and painful. You feel for the characters and wish you could tell them to turn back and just wait! But you'll only have to wait for the 5th story to see what befalls them next.
Some things feel a little predictable and some are surprises.
I love that the author spends ZERO time playing catch up between books like so many other authors do. While for lengthy stories it might be nice to recap, but sometimes its just tedious and unnecessary. I like that Medbury doesn't do that here. You put one book down, and start the next and you're right where you left off.
What's next?!?! Onward to book 5.

not as good as first 3
in this book the story became pretty ridiculous. most series become pretty bad as they go on but this one took a unusual turn for the worst. I hope the rest in the series aren't as bad. the author still does a pretty good job explaining things but the story line just wasn't good

Needs to be a little longer
The series is wonderful, didnt get an overall 5 star because the book itself is short, just wish it was longer.

Awesome gripping story
All 4 of these books left me wanting for more. The story even though fiction, could actually happen. The way Isaac tells his adventures during this horrible time pulls you in. at times it has me laughing out loud and other time almost crying. I can't wait for book 5

GREAT series from a new author for me
I listen to ALL of Bobby Akart & A. American series & they are my favorites! When I first started Book 1 of this series by this (for me) new author, I almost returned it. But I decided to keep going a bit further to see if it got better. Not only did it get better, but now I'm thinking this would make a great movie or tv series! Now on to book 5! This really grows on you. Also this is the 1st time with this narrator. I love narrator Kevin Pierce, as many do. However, this author's voice was awesome, with a deep tember to it. I'd like to hear more from the narrator (sorry, don't recall his name at this moment).
