Publisher's Summary

Darrow would have lived in peace, but his enemies brought him war. The Gold overlords demanded his obedience, hanged his wife, and enslaved his people. But Darrow is determined to fight back. Risking everything to transform himself and breach Gold society, Darrow has battled to survive the cutthroat rivalries that breed Society's mightiest warriors, climbed the ranks, and waited patiently to unleash the revolution that will tear the hierarchy apart from within.

Finally, the time has come.

But devotion to honor and hunger for vengeance run deep on both sides. Darrow and his comrades-in-arms face powerful enemies without scruple or mercy. Among them are some Darrow once considered friends. To win, Darrow will need to inspire those shackled in darkness to break their chains, unmake the world their cruel masters have built, and claim a destiny too long denied - and too glorious to surrender.

Couldn't put it down

A great final book of the trilogy that apparently has a 4th book. As you continue to see Darrow grow, you also see the author grow as he gets more enveloped with his character archs as he completed his first series. Feverous battles, twist and turns that prevent you from putting it down, I finished this book in 2 and a half days.

There was only one decision in the book that I wasn't enamoured with as it was too predictable and mirrored something from the a previous book. It didn't ruin or affect the gread story, but an innovative direction could have taken place to really take it over the top.

If you read the first 2 books, you must read the 3rd or you will deny yourself of how the characters past action make them the people they are at the end which covers 6 years as they grew from teens to powerful adults.

Out of the trilogy, I definitely liked the 1st book the best as it seemed grittier and more carnal but the expanding of their world was extraordinary.

As my first Science Fiction series, I will definitely wade in these waters somemore

A few plot twist and kept me engaged

To be honest, I almost quit listening to this book. I felt it was starting to get predictable, and the loss of main characters was starting to get to me too. There is a point where it is too annoying to invest in a character only to have them killed off. In a spot close to the end, I thought I was done with it, went to do something else, and then it dawned on me. Pierce Brown was trying to throw me off what was about to happen. I was right. Even though I guessed it, he had me for a good hour, but I am glad I pushed through and didn't give up on the book. Even the epilogue had a nice little twist in it. I just might start with the next books now.

Absolutely Amazing!

This book series was such an incredible, amazing surprise. I love all genres, but must admit that when I heard the sample of the first instalment, I was unsure if it was for me. I gave it a chance and was so incredibly happy I did. The story that Pierce Brown has woven is truly one for the ages. It is gripping, endearing, heart wrenching and absolutely captivating. A must-read if there ever was one. It is my sincere hope that this can be made into a screenplay and created as a live action movie series.

Morning star was a great conclusion to the trilogy. I cannot imagine anyone else narrating this story.

Slow Start But The Best Yet

Best book in the series so far. The last half of the book will have emotionally invested in the characters just in time for the twists and turns. The narrator was great just as he was in the other books. Loved it!
