Publisher's Summary
A heartwarming story of friendship and demonic possession.
The year is 1988. High school sophomores Abby and Gretchen have been best friends since the fourth grade. But after an evening of skinny-dipping goes disastrously wrong, Gretchen begins to act...different. She's moody. She's irritable. And bizarre incidents keep happening whenever she's nearby.
Abby's investigation leads her to some startling discoveries - and by the time their story reaches its terrifying conclusion, the fate of Abby and Gretchen will be determined by a single question: Is their friendship powerful enough to beat the devil?
Like an unholy hybrid of Beaches and The Exorcist, My Best Friend's Exorcism blends teen angst, adolescent drama, unspeakable horrors, and a mix of '80s pop songs into a pulse-pounding supernatural thriller.

Subversive and super fun
This book was pretty fun. It's a tight narrative, not a lot of wasted space, and it kept me laughing the entire time. There's an interesting metaphor for misogyny here and the way it's executed is pretty successful, no matter how depressing it winds up being.

A Brilliant Story of Friendship and Demons
I had high expectations for MY BEST FRIEND’S EXORCISM Not only were those expectations met, they were exceeded and I was able to read a book with a truly perfect and special ending. This is easily one of my favourite books. Brilliantly written, intense, and filled with unexpected emotion, it’s a book I will be thinking of for a long time.
Best friends Abby and Gretchen try the limits of their friendship when a fateful party leaves Gretchen changed. As supernatural and strange events happen, it’s up to Abby to see if she can save her best friend from whatever is happening to her.
I loved these two. Both girls had a loving relationship and were easy to relate to. They truly felt like teenage girls in over their heads and living in the heart of the eighties. By the ending, I was constantly rooting for them.
Much of the plot focuses on the relationship between Abby, Gretchen and their small group of friends. The supernatural elements are a slow burn that lead to an explosive ending that brought tears to my eyes. Tears, in a horror book!
And that is because the writing is fantastic. Hendrix is a master of drawing out the suspense and relishing in the gross-out factor when he gets to it. There were moments that made me cringe and yet I was enthralled by the descriptions.
This is a must-read for fans of the horror genre. I truly loved every moment of it and highly recommend it to everyone who loves stories of friendship. I also highly recommend the audiobook because Emily Woo Zeller does a truly outstanding job.

Exceptional
I found this book in the Audible Plus section and thought it would be a fun, frilly little thriller to fill the time before my next credit came in. Boy was I wrong. This book is absolutely EXCEPTIONAL. The story is fantastic and the reader is absolutely phenomenal. I loved that this story was set in the 80s, I loved the progression of horror in the novel, I loved that each chapter was named after an 80s pop song and most of all I loved how beautifully the writer cultivated a special and loyal friendship between girls. I highly recommend this book. I would easily say it is one of the best books I’ve read this year.

Soooo good
This book was so good! Some parts were a little cartoony but it doesn’t take away from the story. Not for those with a weak stomach though! It never goes full horror, so those who want a great paranormal story will really enjoy!

Ok book... bad audio book
The book in general is alright. Seems more like a high school drama book to me than a "exorcism" book. The person who does the audio for the book... horrible.. her voice just made it even more difficult to get through the book. Overall wouldn't recommend the audio book... maybe read the book instead...it might be a better experience.

Incredibly silly
I regret purchasing this book. It was the silliest thing I ever listened to. The narrator was annoying.

Entertaining.
Not scary and takes awhile to get to the meat of the story, but getting to know the characters is the best part of this book.

Disappointed
I really wanted to like this, but it was a ton of build up for a very anti climatic ending.
The voice of the narrator was especially awful. There was a few times I actually had to turn it off because I couldn’t take it.

The ending.
Enjoyed this book over all. The end was the best part in my opinion, the whole story came together.
