Publisher's Summary

Let's get one thing straight - Ivy Wilde is not a heroine. In fact she's probably the last witch in the world you'd call if you needed a magical helping hand, regardless of her actual abilities. If it were down to Ivy, she'd spend all day every day on her sofa, where she could watch TV, munch junk food, and talk to her feline familiar to her heart's content.

However, when a bureaucratic disaster ends up with Ivy as the victim of a case of mistaken identity, she's yanked very unwillingly into Arcane Branch, the investigative department of the Hallowed Order of Magical Enlightenment. Her problems are quadrupled when a valuable object is stolen right from under the Order's noses.

It doesn't exactly help that she's been magically bound to Adeptus Exemptus Raphael Winter. He might have piercing sapphire eyes and a body a cover model would be proud of, but as far as Ivy's concerned, he's a walking advertisement for the joyless perils of too much witch work.

And if he makes her go to the gym again, she's definitely going to turn him into a frog.

A magical mystery

I love a strong independent heroine... it's like Nancy Drew at the magic academy with a hint of romance. The story is clean except maybe for the foul-mouthed, grumpy talking cat. A fantastical, easy listen; loved it and couldn't wait to start the next title in the series!

Very Enjoyable

I randomly downloaded this book based on the title alone, and was pleasantly surprised by the wonderful story. Ivy’s cat is the best!

So delightful!

I LOVED this book. Someone recommended it saying it was funny, so I went into it expecting fluff with a so-so plot, but the story, characters, mystery and interactions were all well written and really engaging. Plus it was fun and laugh out loud funny in parts! I love Ivy and Rafe's interactions and how she kept burbling theories that were incorrect. She is a refreshing MC. Gifted, but with a relatable work ethic, sense of humour, and outlook on bureaucracy. Starting book 2 right now! Tanya Eby's performance was awesome. She is perfect for the bouncy Ivy and the stoic Rafe. Amazing!

Fun

Fun story about a sassy witch who accidentally gets entangled with the Order she was expelled from and specifically a tight-laced mentor with sapphire eyes. You get the drift. She’s a hoot and I love her cat!

great story and narator

I highly recommend this book and the ones that follow. The story is compelling and interesting, different in a good way. I was super funny and I looked like a loon laughing to my self in the bus to work. I am sure it will not appeal to every one as the main character (Ivy) is very much into not putting a lot effort into anything she does, like take the elevator instead of the stairs, being a couch potato instead of going for a run…. Which I can relate to LOL
I really enjoy the cat and tough it was really funny how she made a spell for him to talk and the few words the cat chose to use with her, so hilarious; pretty sure my cat will be like that….
I found it interesting how to very different people could look pass their many differences in life styles and still fall in love and make it work.
I hope this review helps someone make the decision to buy this book, and that you enjoy it as I did.
