Publisher's Summary

Colonel Joe Bishop made a promise and he's going to keep it; taking the captured alien starship Flying Dutchman back out.

He doesn't agree when the UN decides to send almost 70 elite Special Operations troops, hotshot pilots, and scientists with him; the mission is a fool's errand he doesn't expect to ever return from. At least, this time, the Earth is safe, right?

Not so much.

A non stop rollercoaster

The story is a non-stop rollercoaster. Never a dull moment. the story is rich and full of detail to keep you enthralled, and the interplay of Joe and Skippy is a constant delight. The performance makes you feel like you really are listening to these to interact

Storey is great but Joe and Skippy's relationship is hilarious.

I keep coming back to see how Skippy and Joe are going get along every book. Reminds me a lot of my relationship with my closest friends.

a decent second entry

while I enjoyed the first title I found it dragged alittle until the arrival of skippy the magnificent, however this title still dragged alittle regardless of his presence and I did find that at the end of it I felt little had been done to move the story forward, there was lots of great character development however the conversations with slippy tend to go on a bit of a formula and it almost becomes cliche when Joe thinks of a good idea that skippy has missed, seeing as it happens far too often.

that being said slippy is still a very interesting character and the teaser at the end was enough to make me want the next entry so I have to give it at least 4 stars for keeping me invested.

Not as engaging as a lot of the later books.

Not the best book in the series, but the events of this book are often referred to later in the series. Still lots of action and humor, but maybe not as engaging as later stories.

Great performance

The story is fine and Craig Alanson describe well the environments and events. Jokes and Skippy rants are repetitives, but I didnt mind much. R.C. Bray is great and I will definitely look for more of his performances.

I realy dislike the half an hour "free" preview at the end. Audible is advertising a 15h50 audio book. So there's nothing free about that preview. I believe this book is totally worth a credit. However it feels like misleading advertising.

Good series

I have found that the performance was quite strong, and the the story also entertaining. I could hardly wait to see what the next challenge to earth is.
