Story
Deborah Harkness first introduced the world to Diana Bishop, an Oxford scholar and witch, and vampire geneticist Matthew de Clermont in A Discovery of Witches. Drawn to each other despite long-standing taboos, these two otherworldly beings found themselves at the center of a battle for a lost, enchanted manuscript known as Ashmole 782. Since then, they have fallen in love, traveled to Elizabethan England, dissolved the Covenant between the three species, and awoken the dark powers within Diana’s family line.

Story
In the spring of 1628, the Witchfinder of Wessex finds himself a true Witch. As Bess Hawksmith watches her mother swing from the Hanging Tree she knows that only one man can save her from the same fate at the hands of the panicked mob: the Warlock Gideon Masters, and his Book of Shadows. Secluded at his cottage in the woods, Gideon instructs Bess in the Craft, awakening formidable powers she didn’t know she had and making her immortal. She couldn't have foreseen that even now, centuries later, he would be hunting her across time, determined to claim payment for saving her life.

Story
Demonstrating once again her gift for spellbinding storytelling, Anne Rice makes real for us a great dynasty of four centuries of witches - a family given to poetry and incest, murder and philosophy, a family that over the ages is itself haunted by a powerful, dangerous, and seductive being called Lasher who haunts the Mayfair women. Moving in time from today's New Orleans and San Francisco to long-ago Amsterdam and the France of Louis XIV, from the coffee plantations of Port-au-Prince to Civil War New Orleans and back to today, Anne Rice has spun a mesmerizing tale.

Story
Xanthe has always had an affinity with some of the antiques she finds. When she touches them, she can sense something of the past they come from and the stories they hold. When she has an intense connection to a beautiful silver chatelaine, she has to know more. It is while she’s examining the chatelaine that she’s transported back to the 17th century, where it has its origins. She discovers there is an injustice in its history. The spirit that inhabits her new home confronts her and charges her with saving her daughter’s life, threatening to take Flora’s if she fails.

Enthralling
Love the series, the characters are imagined perfectly without it drawing on or repeating. The voice narration is great, so much so that you can tell who is speaking before she tells you. The creatures are wonderfully created and reimagined.

Exceptional! Sincerest thanks.
I have read countless books and series set in vampire/witch/demon and other supernatural worlds. This series by far, was the most captivating, riveting, balanced, and well woven adventure I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I was literally transported throughout the entire series. I assure you that I am VERY selective and critical given that I am well travelled, am passionate about history, philosophy, and have deep knowledge of letters and science (linguistics psychology background and I am a neuroscientist) and I rarely if ever, write reviews. I was simply astonished at how brilliant these books are. The craft with which this series was constructed is simply stellar.. Also, how it gets to the very heart of true humanity, both its failings and triumphs is without compare in supernatural fiction. Stellar, just stellar. Thank you for all your hard work and so evident passion for your art. I would also like to "souligner" the masterful performance of the reader Jennifer Ikeda without whom, this rich work would not have come to life as it has done. I say in the 7 langages I speak, BRAVO!
