Continuing where Thus Spoke Zarathustra left off, Nietzsche's controversial work Beyond Good and Evil is one of the most influential philosophical texts of the 19th century and one of the most controversial works of ideology ever written. Attacking the notion of morality as nothing more than institutionalised weakness, Nietzsche criticises past philosophers for their unquestioning acceptance of moral precepts. Nietzsche tried to formulate what he called "the philosophy of the future".

The Origins and History of Consciousness draws on a full range of world mythology to show how individual consciousness undergoes the same archetypal stages of development as human consciousness as a whole. Erich Neumann was one of C. G. Jung's most creative students and a renowned practitioner of analytical psychology in his own right. In this influential book, Neumann shows how the stages begin and end with the symbol of the Uroboros, the tail-eating serpent.

Story
Ordinary Men is the true story of Reserve Police Battalion 101 of the German Order Police, which was responsible for mass shootings as well as round-ups of Jewish people for deportation to Nazi death camps in Poland in 1942. Browning argues that most of the men of RPB 101 were not fanatical Nazis but, rather, ordinary middle-aged, working-class men who committed these atrocities out of a mixture of motives, including the group dynamics of conformity, deference to authority, role adaptation, and the altering of moral norms to justify their actions.

Story
This collection of 11 wide-ranging lectures which appeared originally in 1933, was based on lectures previously given when Jung was in the process of absorbing a considerable period of study of Eastern religions, Gnosticism and other religious sources. It was a time, according to the translator Cary F. Baynes, ‘when the Western world stands on the verge of a spiritual rebirth...after a long period of outward expansion, we are beginning to look inside ourselves once more.’

Publisher's Summary
Jordan B. Peterson's Maps of Meaning is now available for the first time as an audio download!
Why have people from different cultures and eras formulated myths and stories with similar structures? What does this similarity tell us about the mind, morality, and structure of the world itself? From the author of 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos comes a provocative hypothesis that explores the connection between what modern neuropsychology tells us about the brain and what rituals, myths, and religious stories have long narrated. A cutting-edge work that brings together neuropsychology, cognitive science, and Freudian and Jungian approaches to mythology and narrative, Maps of Meaning presents a rich theory that makes the wisdom and meaning of myth accessible to the critical modern mind.

Intense but worth it
Firstly I want to express my appreciation for Dr. Peterson's narration of this book. I've had an ebook version of it for quite some time now, but found it almost impossible to read on my own, because I would often lose my train of thought inside his sentences. While the book in audio form is still intense and much more academic than 12 Rules, hearing him read it out loud helps cement its concepts a bit easier for me. That said, this is definitely not a book I could put on to listen to while I do other tasks that require mental effort. Some of the questions he poses in this book really got me thinking, and I feel like I'll be mentally chewing on them for a while...

Better read than listened to.
To be clear, I'm not saying that there are any issues with the audio, I'm saying that giving the book is far easier to understand if you read it, and are able to reread sentences with ease. Audible just doesn't have a good way to reread sentences that you may have actually wanted to ponder instead of skipping to the next point prematurely. This is not helped by the massive amount of times I needed to pause and look up the big words that I can't understand... Which is slightly embarrassing, but I do have a slight mental disability, so it might be easier for anyone reading this to understand him. I would also like to assure you that there are no problems with the story from what I saw. I just didn't know how to rate the story when I hadn't read it fully, so I just went with the current average.
TL;DR
If you can see, you should be reading this instead of listening to it, unless you just like hearing the sound of Peterson's voice, and you're fluent with a lot of big words.

Required reading for those lost in life.
Surprising to me that what Dr Peterson is saying is controversial to some. It seems that these rules should be tought at a young age, and reinforced in school. One could say that they are not on purpose, and hence the controversy.
In any case, his words hit you like a ton of bricks, and makes you wonder why you have never heard them before. His passion and solice, and even his emotion towards the end of the book really proved to me his attempt at making people's lives better is sincere. Those who would attempt to discredit his sincerity are truly void of it themselves.

A guide in face of chaos
In a dense work that carefully stacks different layers of the human psyche, from neuroanatomical structures to philosophical and psychological perspectives. Jordan Peterson exposes archetypal concepts that have been forgotten or overlooked by the modern mind. Using the commonalities of myths throughout cultures and history, as well as ideas formulated by Nietzsche and Jung, he puts Truth and the individual as the creative forces that move mankind forward.
The language is precise but very dense and makes the audiobook version a bit daunting. I have played and replayed parts of it to absorb each word.
I think it's a book to go to when in face of too much chaos in your life, when in despair, when you need to make sense of existence and your place in the world.

Vast and Deep
Patience. Although this does not contain the condensed version of Jordan B. Peterson's thoughts, this rather exhaustive format adds a similar quality as the Red Book by C.G. Jung. Therefore, I urge you to patiently consider the content of this valuable book.
This book is highly valued as a #Audible1 which places it among the 20 books which I continue to enjoy again and again.

Eye Opening
This was a great in-depth journey through the psychoanalytic perspective. Peterson is greatly influenced by Jung (among others like Nietsche, Goethe, Dostoevsky, Biblical corpus etc.) and this book weaves its way through several of the sources of Jung’s, and in turn Peterson’s, thinking: Affective Neuroscience, Mythology, Religion, Alchemy, etc. It left me with more questions than answers, as any great book does, but it provided me with a framework through which seeking these answers (but first: formulating the right questions) is most achievable: that of the exploratory hero. Thanks Dr. Peterson! (And I wish you the best in your current recovery from poor health).
