Publisher's Summary

They are coming. The countdown has begun.

First visible only as blips on a telescope image, the discovery of objects approaching from Jupiter's orbit immediately sets humanity on edge. NASA doesn't even bother to deny the alien ships' existence. The popular Astral space app (broadcasting from the far side of the moon and accessible by anyone with Internet) has already shown the populace what is coming. So the news has turned from evasion to triage, urging calm and offering the few facts they have:

The objects are enormous, perfectly round spheres numbering in the dozens, maybe hundreds. They are on an approach vector for Earth. And they will arrive in six days.

Great base story riddled with misogyny and incest

The main idea is great. Ray Porter is Great, like sooooo good. The characters are good for the most part other than a clearly divided line between men and women and the most stereotyped version of each. Alot of character development is even in good spirit but misses the mark with random incestual fantasies between the son and his step mom. Also in the second book the teenage girl becomes of age and becomes the center of much juvinille sex talk. Also does it matter how often the teenage son jacks off to his step mom ? No.... Take out all that garbage and this divided gender BS and it would be great. No incest and no mysoginy would also mean it's only one book. I really want to know what happens but I just can't listen to the trash that seems to have been injected for filler. And Ray.. if you read this... You made it tolerable at best and if it was read by anyone else, I would assume high schools boys got ahold of a typewriter.. also Im a dude and probably a more stereotypical one and like.. it's just gross and dumb. Audible owes me hours of my life back and but want cliff notes on the other 8000 books or whatever cause the concept is crazy interesting. The writing is BS. I listened to this because of the quality that BOB delivered... Why doesn't Bob have 20 books. It isn't fair. Change my mind audible.

Don’t bother.

Ray you are great. But this story is a waste of time.
So much useless info. Basic mistakes made by a supposed survivalist. Chapter 17 and all I know is the son is attracted to step mother the mother may be dead and the daughter is pregnant. No aliens no real plot.
So not continuing this series.
Characters are just stupid.

Story is good. But poorly divided.

Equivalent to EA games monetization of the game world, Audible is killing good stories by partitioning them to make more money. Movies do not even stop like this.

shame on you.

CRAP

"Crap, pure garbage. Poorly written tripe of the
absolute worst kind. Regret even starting it" - Gillian White

that's not my review, but I agree with it, and I didn't pay for the book, thankfully is was an included title, nevertheless I feel the authors owe me for my 3 hours that I tried to listen.

I'll be picking up the second book!

This was a well told tale and the narrator did a fantastic job. I'm invested enough that I want to know what happens next!

If you are looking for a good end of days, alien invasion story, you'll enjoy this.

Tired old plot

You can skip chapter after chapter and it makes no difference. You’ve heard them a time after time.

Can't do it

I tried multiple times to listen to this book. Ray Porter's performance was great, as it always is. I could handle the gender and family role stereotypes but I can't get past the dialog. The bickering is unbearable to me. Maybe you would be fine with it but I couldn't last more than 10 minutes at a time.

Misogynistic, crass, trash

"Crap, pure garbage. Poorly written tripe of the
absolute worst kind. Regret even starting it" - Gillian White

Couldn't agree more, I wish I'd simply trusted Gillian's assessment and moved on.
Ray Porter's narration is excellent as always, but the actual words he's reading are utter trash.

I stuck with it hoping the misogynistic, juvenile, crass dialogue would fade away, it doesn't. It's just gross.
