Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

When an experiment to study quantum uncertainty goes spectacularly wrong, physics student Bill Rustad and his friends find that they have accidentally created an inter-dimensional portal. They connect to Outland - an alternate Earth with identical geology, but where humans never evolved. The group races to establish control of the portal before the government, the military, or evildoers can take it away. Then everything changes when the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts in an explosion large enough to destroy civilization and kill half the planet.

A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

Piranesi lives in the House. Perhaps he always has. In his notebooks, day after day, he makes a clear and careful record of its wonders: the labyrinth of halls, the thousands upon thousands of statues, the tides that thunder up staircases, the clouds that move in slow procession through the upper halls. On Tuesdays and Fridays Piranesi sees his friend, the Other. At other times he brings tributes of food to the Dead. But mostly, he is alone.

Incredible storytelling
This novel was well written, descriptive and fascinating. A look into a scarily plausible future where artificial intelligence in a post-apocalyptic Earth leads one man on a quest to save the human race. It’s rife with intrigue, action, geeky science fiction references, humor, and it filled me with both hope and fear. I can’t wait to read the next two!

Amazing find. Caught me completely off guard!
One of the best books I've encountered in years! Honestly, reading the description, it sounded like it would be iffy at best. I can't say what drove me to buy it (maybe the other positive reviews). But boy am I glad I did. What a fantastic book and series. I could not stop listening once I started. Keep up the great work Dennis! Fantastic narration by Dennis as well! #Audible1

Must. Read. All. Three.
Honestly, I find it difficult to stay interested in most novels but this series kept me glued to my headset. This is not just for dads, I'm a 20-year-old girl and I loved it. Takes the concept of artificial intelligence to the next level. This book has you thinking about it long after you're done reading.

From the moment Porter begins his dialogue he feels familiar, believable and deeply invested in the universe that Dennis E. Taylor created. Any knowledge level of sci-fi culture will provide smiles and laughs just in time to bring you back from some of the many poignant and deadly moments. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting a fellow Bob and look forward to the continued adventures.

The Bobverse
I loved this book. Smart, humouress and a Bob for today’s world. When we meet Bob he’s signing up for cryogenics so if he dies they’ll be able to resurrect him at some later date,
Dumped by his girlfriend, he’s been bought out and is celebrating with his friends and former co-workers in Las Vegas. Part of this is a huge Con in Vegas with wild costumes by co-splayers and panel’s on all things geek related. Only this year he can do it in style with VIP tickets.
Unfortunately, he’s about to find out how cryogenics will work for him when a car comes out of nowhere killing him, You’ll have to read/listen to see what happens and find out how Bob’s world is forever changed.

Terrific
This was great. The same but very much not the same character was almost all the characters of this space adventure. interesting to see facets of a personality be strong enough to create completely different 'people'. Will definitely read more of these to see where these stories go.

I thought it was a little pg and Bob was a little judgy to anything beyond American values but it's a really great book. Lots of scifi references and great space battles. Very 2001 as well. Well done!
