Publisher's Summary

Belva Plain captured readers' hearts with her first novel, Evergreen, which Delacorte published more than 30 years ago. It topped the New York Times best-seller list for 41 weeks and aired as an NBC-TV miniseries. In total, more than 20 of her books have been New York Times best sellers.

Before becoming a novelist, Belva Plain wrote short stories for many major magazines, but taking care of a husband and three children did not give her the time to concentrate on the novel she had always wanted to write. When she looked back and said she didn't have the time, she felt as though she had been making excuses. In retrospect, she said, "I didn't make the time." But, she reminded us, during the era that she was raising her family, women were supposed to concentrate only on their children. Today 30 million copies of her books are in print.

A Barnard College graduate who majored in history, Belva Plain enjoyed a wonderful marriage of more than 40 years to Irving Plain, an ophthalmologist. Widowed for more than 25 years, Ms. Plain continued to reside in New Jersey, where she and her husband had raised their family and which was still home to her nearby children and grandchildren until her death in October 2010.

Audio doesn't match Text

I have the book and I was expecting it to be read with John's voice in exactly what was printed. However, it was completely different and for that reason alone I'm very disappointed. I feel like I wasn't able to understand the material and get the original content of the book when it was written not some clips and snippets of his work that were probably recorded after publishing. They sound very YouTube quality and I feel like it ruined the experience and the ability to enjoy the content.

Not remotely as advertised

I think Audible made a mistake in its description. This is a fictional story about an old woman who manipulates the members of her dysfunctional family into all coming to see her when they don't want to see each other. No workshop. I would like my credit back.

Publisher description & actual audio are different

I downloaded this thinking it was the book by John Bradshaw, the description talked about the book I was looking for. Once I downloaded and started listening I realized that it was a completely different book, it was not the one by John Bradshaw, this one is a story of a couple loosing their children to a tragedy and it's by Belva Plain.
Very disappointed that what I thought I was getting and what I actually got were two different books completely.

Incorrect book cover

This is a book by John Bradshaw not a novel by Belva Plain. Audiobooks is displaying the wrong cover.

The book was recommended to me so I chose the audiobook as I find reading a chore when my mind is in overdrive. Fabulous audiobook made up of talks and 1-2-1 exercises. Extremely helpful addition to my therapy.

I loved listening to this book. It was great and walks you through some powerful meditations. If you spend the time to do the work you’ll definitely see results.

Excellent book.

Championing my inner child has helped my healing process immensely. I always love it if the author reads the book.
