Could have been a twenty minute book

Mel is a master narrator with great persuasion skills. However, that is all this is. She sounds so sure of herself, so convincing that she knows the science, but she doesn't. For instance, her report on the sleep research if not just a bit wrong, but almost completely wrong.

This book has one somewhat interesting idea in it, that is it. One short chapter would have covered it, the rest is pure filler and often incorrect.

I am inspired

What a beautiful person to share a simple concept that can change the way we think in five seconds.
I loved all the emails Mel read, they were truly inspiring.
I am so excited to take on the five second rule to change in me what don't like and enhance in me what do like.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is questioning their life or anyone needing a boost (and we all do).
By the way, I have never written a review and I read at least one book a week. What did I do, I 54321 go and wrote the review.
Enjoy the book, read Iit or listen and then read or listen till it is burned in your mind. Yo will not regret it,

A must have tool for your life

Mel Robbins reads her own book with such passion and care, I loved it! She is able to draw you in her stories, making emphasis in the importance of following those wonderful instincts of ours, those which have the softest little voice and often go unacknowledged. She teaches us how to act upon them before they disapear into oblivion. She shares from many who's lives have changed, how little acts of daily courage can become a cornerstone to unbelievable transformation and living a life without regret.

Much, much more than I expected

I thought this would be a nice, light, interesting "read" (I listened on audible), but particularly towards the end, I was surprised at how Mel Robbins took this basic common sense rule and touched me on such a personal level! I realized how I have used this rule without realizing it, but now with awareness, hope to act more often, without talking myself out of even the simplest things.
Great book! Thanks Mel!

Great Rule but

I enjoyed the rule. I think it's quite effective and brilliant really. I also think the book was too repetitive and had way too many examples of where the rule could be applied. It felt like filler. The book could have been easily shortened to a max of 2 or 3 hrs.

Powerful

This book is greatly enhanced with Mel Robbins' narration of the audiobook. The book is inspiring and backed by extensive research on the material. I have been implementing the 5 Second Rule since I started Oct 24th (1 month prior to completing the book, as I took notes and really took time to absorb everything) and it has been changing me. I am becoming a better person with baby steps, using the Rule to push me along in life to get to doing the things I don't want to, but have to. It's helping me to be mindful of myself, my moods, my general state of being, and to push out of my comfort zone to communicate better with my loved ones. The 5 Second Rule is a book that everyone should read, regardless of where you are in your Journey. Read this book. Learn from it. Become the best version of yourself. This book will be one that I will listen to over and over. That is certain.

Disappointing

After the first five minutes you don't need to continue. The rest is just examples to support this idea. I feel I wasted my credit this month

I turned it off after an hour.

It's a great tool. 54321 GO! It really does hijack your brain momentarily and get you moving.
However, the book is FULL of fluff. Her reading feedback from her fans about how they've used the '5 second rule' to make changes, over and over and over and over and over again is not my idea of a 'book'. It's a 'Ra Ra' rally and a waste of my time. In the end I found it annoying. The tool however does work to defeat procrastination. You can probably find a blog post or a TEDx talk somewhere that will give you all you need.

Good concept but couldn't relate

They tell a bunch of stories of other people and the story is said over about 20 min per person and then says the one little instance they used the 5 second rule. It's a book with tons of filler and not much substance

unnecessarily long

it is a nice and useful rule, but I think the amount of chapters is too much for the same... it just keeps repeating the same over and over again

Go

I just did the 54321 seconds rule, I'm writing a review...this alone is frightening for me. I think it's because deep down I always want to write, what I think and feel, but I never bother because I thought about it to much . It's simple and a small start will do, I just did. Thanks to Mel Robbins, I have re-connected within my self to force myself the "GO" push using her 54321. I recommend it to anyone, who desperately wants a change and a chance to find them self again. I totally love her tone of voice and stories she use to demonstrate her point across. The message is so clear, that I'm so glad I was listening. I hope you find my review useful, but most of all, that you find yourself doing the 54321, now Go!

Simple and extremely powerful!

So I have about 190 Audible books in my library and this is my first full review. While there are so many books telling you what we can do to achieve greatness, this book provides a tool that truly works. I first tried it to get up in the morning to workout, and I literally was able because of this simple yet powerful tool. I highly recommend this to anyone who overthinks things and ends up not taking action. Thank you Mel, I will be passing this along.

Exhorting mightily.

Good information repeated often so every one can understand. The important point is stated at the outset. A lot of everyday examples but I felt a little beaten up by the narrator at middle of the book. I think the content is important but more effective with a more subtle approach. If you feel the same way, stop for a couple of hours (or days) and return.

Thanks Mel

I am a stay at home mom, and for too long I have let that box determine what others thought of me and what I'm capable of, and I cared. But it was an excuse to not live up to my full potential, because I've never done anything else & I was scared to fail and confirm their beliefs. I have started a home based busines now, and I homeschool my kids, & I manage our real estate properties. We are on our way to the life of our dreams & I get to contribute in a big way. I am going to live everyday to its fullest and love with my whole heart leaving nothing important unsaid. Thanks Mel, the courage and capacity was within me the whole time, but something led me to your book, and now I have found myself, and am sure I can achieve anything.

Simple concept stretched beyond required

The concept is very simple and you will get it in probably the first 5 mins of your listening. The rest of the book is simply examples and examples. I went on to listen to the book every time expecting something different will come about using the 5 seconds rule and all I could listen to was examples.

Nice but a little long

The book is nice, the rule is pretty useful.
Once you grab the concept the rest of the book is just motivation speak.
Now, 5 4 3 2 1 go do that thing your are always thinking of doing
