Great and Innovative Book on Self-Leadership
My manager recommended our whole team to read this book, and I really enjoyed it. It delivers a lot of self-leadership, self-development, and communication lessons all through the art of storytelling. The approach this book takes is different from most of the self development and career management books I've read, I'd definitely recommend it.

Be an asset to your company, not a liability.
My impression: the One Minute Manager Revised Edition taught me how to tackle assumptions in the workplace. The two key words that were mentioned are: Competence & commitment. The author, through the use of fictional writing, expresses the need to evaluate your own levels of competence and commitment when dealing with a task of any kind. For example, after finishing the book, I asked myself these questions: Am I a self reliant achiever at this task? Or am I at a place where I must rely on others to assist me in a situation where there is uncertainty? A self leader realises their strength and weaknesses and is willing to ask for what they need in order to get the job done. The opposite of this is just quitting the job by assuming you just are not cut out for it. Did you ask for what your needs are? Do you need coaching, or support? Have you leveraged your relationships with supportive individuals who can give you the insights needed to solve what you thought was an impossible problem? These are some of the questions that the book has inspired me to ask myself. This reminds me of the distinction between an infant child and a self leader. I wont compare a child to an adult, because unfortunately, there is clear evidence that a person who is mature in age can still display childish behavior when faced with a difficult task. So what is the difference between childish mentality and self leadership mentality? A child must wait for its needs to come to it voluntarily. The child does this by crying and complaining till it gets what it wants. The self leader, on the other hand, does not complain or cry when his/her needs are unmet, but rather, the self leader is proactive in seeking the insights needed to achieve a specific goal. For example, if you go to your superior and all youndo is cry and complain, then you are employing the tactics of a infant child; however, of you ask your superiors for insight, and clearly state what your needs are for particular project, then you are representing the behavior of a self leader. Self leader = asset; Cry baby = liability Be an asset, not a liability. Which one are you?

this book has a lot of really good insights that I absolutely intend on applying in my workspace I recommended the book for both managers and anyone who is in a employee position that is frustrated with their managers however I found it very frustrating that this book decided to tell a big grandiose fictional story in order to deliver the information as opposed to just going through the facts and insights with applicable examples if you're like me and don't enjoy reading fiction novels you're going to find this book very annoying to read despite the fact that the insights are actually very good

I usually like Ken Blanchard, but this one's a dud
maybe there's still some applicable advice in this book, but it seems to be both too diluted by an unusually dull narrative for Mr. Blanchard and cut too short; apparently ending right as it seems the story is just getting going. this book honestly reads as some half-baked predecessor on the way to writing Gung Ho!

the story was bland
the story used to teach the lessons was not very interesting. muscle through it though because the information is valuable. over all, glad I got through it.
