About this listen

It's been seven years since Lexi Knight lost her brother in a tragic accident. On the anniversary of his death, her brother's best friend shows up unexpectedly - a man she hasn't seen since the funeral. He is no longer the boy Lexi once knew, but a dangerous-looking man with tattoos and dark secrets. He broke her trust and abandoned her family, yet what he reveals makes it impossible to stay angry.

Lexi has been secretly infatuated with Austin since childhood, so finding out he's a Shifter just makes him sexier. Dammit. Austin Cole has returned to the city where he grew up, and just in time. He's lived a hard life these past seven years, and the shadows of his past are threatening to destroy Lexi's family. It's time that she learned the truth about her brother, but there is a shocking twist that Austin never saw coming. Now he must protect her family when her mother and sister wind up in mortal danger. Will Lexi learn to accept the truth about who he is, and can Austin salvage a relationship from the ruins of their past?

As with all Dannika dark books. All my love BUT annoying Sex scenes. Im just done with that. I feel like every female author gets forced into putting that fluff in their series. These stories and reads just don’t need it. But if your reading this....this books are wonderful

Great but...

The main female character is really difficult to like... for me. I think we're suppose to believe she's a strong character. But, every time you turn around she's making thoughtless choices, reacting without thinking, and needing to be saved non stop. She questions everything. But, then refuses to accept it. She comes off as super over board sheltered, thoughtless, and overreacts to everything.

I have read all the books in this series. I do like most of them. It's a fun series that I sent really too deep. The world is vast though. This first book... it's the worst of the series in my opinion. It does have the starting points of the lore for the rest of the series. If I could skip it on my re-reads of the series I would.

If this helps though... the characters and story of ALL the other books in this series are better :)

Main female character disappointment

I really struggle with audio books that don’t have two narrators and instead have one who tries to do make/female voices. This was one of the better ones I’ve listened to like that. But it came really pull you from the story.

The story was fine. I was left wanting from from the secondary characters. Heavy heavy focus on the female/male lead. Which is usually alright but I do prefer when secondary characters are developed a bit more. Especially since this seems to be an omega verse. So getting that connection in other books just builds onto the others.

I was left not really caring what happened to any of them in the book.

Lots of miscommunication trope happening.

It’s ok

This book was pretty good! Good enough that I am onto the second!! It was a bit different from most shifter romances when it came to pack rules, mates and overall alpha dominance...or should I say less of all... but was still a good story line that kept me hooked! Great characters and progression aswell! I also must say this narrator did a pretty bang up job with the different voices!

"You BLEW UP my CAR"

It was sorta typical kind of paranormal romance with shifters. But I loved the characters, they were really well built up. Each chapter leaving you wanting more and more. I am just starting the second book can’t wait to see what it brings.
Also the annoying characters with annoying voices don’t last long which is great in some books it goes on and on

Loved this read from cover to end
