À propos de cet audio

The seventh and final novel of the galaxy-spanning series merges the best of space opera and epic fantasy, as Hadrian Marlowe at last lights the greatest fire humanity has ever seen

Ambitious universe-building combines with intimate character portraits for storytelling on a truly epic scale—for fans of Orson Scott Card, Adrian Tchaikovsky, Patrick Rothfuss, and Jack Campbell

The trumpet sounds.

The end has come at last. After his victory at Vorgossos, Hadrian Marlowe finds himself a fugitive, on the run not only from the Extrasolarians, but from his own people, the Sollan Empire he betrayed—and who betrayed him. Hidden safely beyond the borders of human space, Hadrian awaits the arrival of the one ally he has left: the Jaddian Prince Kaim-Olorin du Otranto.

What's more, the inhuman Cielcin have vanished, unseen for more than one hundred years. The armies of men have grown complacent, but Hadrian knows the truth: the Cielcin are gathering their strength, preparing for their final assault against the heart of all mankind.

Only Hadrian possesses the power to stem the tide: an ancient war machine, forged by the daimon machines at the dawn of time. The mighty Demiurge. With it, Hadrian must face not just the Cielcin horde, but their Prophet-King, and the dark gods it serves—the very gods who shaped the universe itself.

This must be.

Ending does not disappoint. It's long but each chapter is filled with universe shaking events and emotional goodbyes.

An ending well worth the wait.

This ending only disappoints in leaving so much unsaid. While its an ending in totality, its the ending of one character's battle through space and time. Some space operas feel like the whole universe follows one tale, the protagonists stand together in victory at the end and everyone lives happily ever after. This series ends with the knotting of one single small thread, traced through tumult and chaos.

There are endings, and this is but one.

An ending 207 hours and 45 minutes in the making

No Spoilers *** The choice of having the narrator as the MC with all the hindsight and foreboding made me scared the ending would be predictable. It wasn't, it was a ride start to finish with some massive pay offs, victories and defeats. I love these characters but most of all I love this universe. I cant wait to see where Ruocchio takes us next. I hope it will be in the same universe!

I looked forward to this final installment for a long time and it did not disappoint! the writing style is so detailed, it feels as though it is going to be too much and drag out the story unnecessarily, but it never does. instead the details serve to rope you into the smaller stories within the larger. The narrator, as he has done throughout the series, does an incredible job with the characters emotions and the story overall. This was a fitting end to the suneater series. I highly recommend the series to all sci fi fans. A big thanks to the author and the narrator!

Incredible Conclusion
