Publisher's Summary

Paige Watts is the ultimate stage mother. The daughter of Hollywood royalty, Paige channels her own acting dreams into making her daughter, Emma, a star. By the age of nine, Emma is playing a central role in a hit TV show. Then everything is shattered by unforeseeable tragedy.

Now, Emma is living with her Aunt Whitney, who had chosen a very different path from her sister’s. Whitney was always the studious older sister, hating the cult of celebrity that enveloped their childhood. Instead, she is a psychiatrist who lives for her work and enjoys a no-strings-attached love affair with a wealthy venture capitalist. But at a moment’s notice, Whitney drops everything to help her niece.

Once famous, outgoing, and charismatic, Emma is now a shadow of her former self - without speech, without memory, lost and terrified. But with her Aunt Whitney’s help, along with a team of caregivers and doctors, Emma begins to find her way, starting her young life all over again - and changing the lives of everyone around her.

Emotionally gripping and richly involving, Silent Night explores how the heart has mysterious healing powers of its own and how blessings happen when we think all is lost.

I absolutely loved this book, as I do most Danielle Steele books. Very well written.

Not my favorite book of DS

Although I normally really enjoy DS books, I found this one to be just ok. I found it was quite repetitive in spots, boring in others and far fetched when it came to the horse accident.

There were several times I had to look at my phone because I thought I had somehow rewound parts of the book. Nope! Just repetitive parts.

I had to go back a couple times because I found the book wasn't keeping my attention. So worried I may have missed something important I would go back a chapter. I now know I didn't need to do that, I didn't miss anything important at all. I also found it to be somewhat preachy in spots about the dangers of texting & driving. You can make a point in a novel and move on but in this book I felt preached at.

I am an avid horse women and have spent most of my 46 years around horses. So the riding "accident" in my opinion was highly unlikely! Any horse that has that type of a reaction to a rabbit would NOT be used in a trail ride business much less given to a green rider! This somewhat annoyed me although I am sure most people wouldn't have given it a second thought.

As usual, I love DS's writing style and this book was no different. It was easy to listen to and easy to follow.

The narration was good. I am not familiar with this narrator but felt he did a pretty good job!

Overall I would give this 3.5 ☆'s.

very emotional but a wonderful story

I live with someone who has suffered similar injuries and is having the same problems recovering.
The details within the story are so, so true.
Thank you Danielle for such a thought stimulating story.

Worth the read.

I have always enjoyed Danielle's writing style. Her books are informative and usually have some romance. I enjoyed the information around the behaviors and struggles as well as triumphs of person's with brain injury. A good read.

Written for children I suspect

Unsophisticated plot. Not much to keep my interest.
Performance: Was like listening to the news; very disconnected and factual and uninvested in the story
The content was a repetitive public service announcement for wearing your seatbelt, helmets, and not texting while driving.. I am surprised that drinking and driving wasnt rolled into the story along with ‘just say no to drugs.’
The book was dedicated to her kids so I think it was written with messages geared toward them.
