Publisher's Summary

First published in 1962, Silent Spring can single-handedly be credited with sounding the alarm and raising awareness of humankind's collective impact on its own future through chemical pollution. No other book has so strongly influenced the environmental conscience of Americans and the world at large.

What the critics say

"Silent Spring came as a cry in the wilderness, a deeply felt, thoroughly researched, and brilliantly written argument that changed the course of history." (Al Gore)

I wish there was a part 2

Silent Spring is iconic, the warnings dire, but also set the stage for an environmental movement that it started and which continues today. the predictions did not all come true, but they still could with other be chemicals which have come since. The book is astounding, beautifully written and read.

A very eye opening and informative book.

Well narrated. I've been wanting to read Silent Spring for a while, it works well as an audio book. Lots of fact based content which when read allowed gives the impression that I am attending a university lecture.
