Publisher's Summary
When Hugo and Neve settle in Paris, they assume that they will enjoy a few peaceful years away from the turmoil of British politics, but they are not nearly as safe as they believe themselves to be, especially since everyone has something to hide. Meanwhile, Max must learn to adapt to life on a sugar plantation in Barbados, and decide whether to accept help from an unexpected and dangerous source; a decision which may cost him his life.

Very enjoyable
Granted - this series is
“another time travel romance “ and has all the usual twists & turns. It has, however a delicious taste of historical flavor - from both England & France.
I totally enjoyed the escape from our now turbulent political times!

loved it, however a previous review is wrong. Black people can have blue eyes WITHOUT Caucasian blood. Please share correct information before posting things.

Outlander Fans: Yes, you will love this series.
Nothing can replace our Claire and Jaime, but now that I’m well into this series, I can say that the characters are well developed, and I have feelings for them. Neve develops from a competent modern day woman into a woman totally in tune with survival who follows her instincts and grows before our eyes into a full grown woman of consequence. I love it, and don’t want the series to end!

Decisions of the characters make no sense
SPOILER ALERTS !
First, I wish author’s would look up genetics
rules before assigning physical features to their characters.
Main character , has blonde hair & brown eyes. Nope. Never will you see an adult that is a natural blonde with brown eyes
A redhead can have any eye color.
Also, someone of African heritage cannot have blue eyes unless they have Caucasian ancestry from both parents.
Also, as the story goes, Hugo wants to go back to the 17th century with pregnant Nev because he wants them to get married by a catholic priest- because they claim since he doesn’t have 21st century ID. Really ? They couldn’t pay a priest to marry them huh? What baloney- and THEN, after they are back , how do they get married ? By the captain of the ship they are on ! So they go back risking her dying in child birth , for NO REASON .
The plot of this story has so many holes.
For example , Max goes back through the passage - why? Because he was worried that Nev would do something to change his inheritance ? If she had, he wouldn’t have known anything about it, and it already would have happened .
None of it makes sense

Engaging and Captivating Series!!
Irina Shapiro has built an engrossing world where I can immerse myself in the culture of the 1600s and as I rally with the main characters Nev and Hugo in their pursuit of love and happiness. I am thoroughly invested in their lives and am anxiously awaiting to discover how the revelation of time travel will factor into the modern day disappearances of Nev and Max. Now that another character has discovered their secret will their destinies change? This series should be shared with everyone you know who is a fan of time travel and romance!! I can't praise the narrator enough for her performance and diversity of speech and voice. Overall this is an AMAZING audible book!
