Publisher's Summary

Six years have passed since Jake Fisher watched Natalie, the love of his life, marry another man. Six years of hiding a broken heart by throwing himself into his career as a college professor. Six years of keeping his promise to leave Natalie alone, and six years of tortured dreams of her life with her new husband, Todd.

But six years haven’t come close to extinguishing his feelings, and when Jake comes across Todd’s obituary, he can’t keep himself away from the funeral. There he gets the glimpse of Todd’s wife he’s hoping for...but she is not Natalie. Whoever the mourning widow is, she’s been married to Todd for almost two decades, and with that fact, everything Jake thought he knew about the best time of his life - a time he has never gotten over - is turned completely inside out.

As Jake searches for the truth, his picture-perfect memories of Natalie begin to unravel. Mutual friends of the couple either can’t be found or don’t remember Jake. No one has seen Natalie in years. Jake’s search for the woman who broke his heart, who lied to him, soon puts his very life at risk as it dawns on him that the man he has become may be based on a carefully constructed fiction.

Harlan Coben once again delivers a shocking novel that deftly explores the power of past love and the secrets and lies that such love can hide.

Not one of his best

Meh! It certainly wasn't one of his best books. Approximately half way through I knew how it would end. The narrator was excellent though so I listened to the end.

Six years.

Well written but very predictable at times. Some conclusions are presented as a big reveal but I already put it together. That being said it was a nice ride.

Full packed

Lots going on and many names to follow. Keeps you guessing. I felt it was a little too long for me.

Years are good

Well done story and Harlan all the way. Narrator is the best. Added to my listen to again list.

Excellent

I choose this audiobook because I knew I’d love the narration- Scott Brick is my favourite. This is the first Harlan Corben book for me and I loved the twists and turns. Definitely will seek out more.

Good story

Lots of twists and turns. In my opinion I found the narrator didn’t deliver Coben’s quick witted character. His acerbic humour was lost. Over dramatic voice which I found annoying. As he narrates a lot of Coben’s books, on Audible, I will move on to another writer. A shame because I love Coben’s writing.

One Death After Another

I managed to listen to the whole thing, but it wasn't easy. The protagonist is told multiple times not to keep looking for his ex-girlfriend because he will get people killed. But he does. And people die. Lots of them.

Enjoyable read with excellent narration

Although the storyline resembles that of other Harlan Coben plotlines, there were enough plot twists and turns to make it and interesting read. The narrator was excellent.

OH NOT AGAIN

Excellent story and the narrative was good but bang there started to be way too many names and characters and once again this old man couldn`t understand what was going on . I turned on the TV 📺

Six Years felt like 60.

Had this been my first book by Harlan Coben, it would have been my last. Thankfully I have read other books by him prior to Six Years so while this is the worst of his books so far (despite the twists and turns), I still enjoy his stories.

The main character is annoying and selfish, which is what makes this book hard to get through. Thanks to Harlan Cobens twists and turns, the story remains interesting and you do want to get to the truth, despite the lame lead character. Jake's belief system of right and wrong is twisted and seemingly unhealthy.

Narration: Scott Brick is not my favourite narrator, and his narration makes the lead character even more pathetic (if that's entirely possible).

All in all, if you're thinking of listening to this book as your first Harlan Coben, I recommend holding off until you've enjoyed others by him. Otherwise, you might not listen to any of his books, and he really is a wonderful author.
