Publisher's Summary

An inventive debut in the tradition of World War Z and The Martian, told in interviews, journal entries, transcripts, and news articles, Sleeping Giants is a literary thriller fueled by a quest for truth - and a fight for control of earthshaking power.

A girl named Rose is riding her new bike near her home in Deadwood, South Dakota, when she falls through the earth. She wakes up at the bottom of a square hole, its walls glowing with intricate carvings. But the firemen who come to save her peer down upon something even stranger: a little girl in the palm of a giant metal hand.

Seventeen years later, the mystery of the bizarre artifact remains unsolved - its origins, architects, and purpose unknown. Its carbon dating defies belief; military reports are redacted; theories are floated, then rejected.

But some can never stop searching for answers.

Rose Franklin is now a highly trained physicist leading a top-secret team to crack the hand's code. And along with her colleagues, she is being interviewed by a nameless interrogator whose power and purview are as enigmatic as the provenance of relic. What's clear is that Rose and her compatriots are on the edge of unraveling history's most perplexing discovery - and figuring out what it portends for humanity. But once the pieces of the puzzle are in place, will the result prove to be an instrument of lasting peace or a weapon of mass destruction?

Loved the multi cast and presentation

I really liked how the story was presented. The story unfolded in a series of case files and interviews as though somebody was recalling events of the past from some distant future. The interviewer is left unnamed which leaves a sense of mystery. And the multi cast works well for this presentation style. I'm looking forward to the next books!

The military, alien technology and conspiracy themes all remind me of Stargate for any other fans out there.

This is hugely popular?

I purchased this book, actually the series, on the advice that it is one of the best science fiction series available. In my opinion it is quite the opposite. the quality of the voice acting and performances is top notch, though how they are able to deliver these lines without laughter is beyond me.

I won't bash the writer here, but I wish the book and the prose was less melodramatic. I wish the story was more show and not tell. I wish there were not so many contradictions in the details. I wish the characters were more different, with varied personality and not simply a different tone to the same voice (note: characters not actors). I wish that characters having conversations didn't feel like they were reading from their personal journal, or from a Wikipedia page.

If you are a fan of Science fiction, you must also be a fan of all the different things I mentioned to enjoy this series. I apologize if the author ever reads this, at least you can take comfort in the fact that I already paid for the books.

Awesome story, incredibly performed.

when I read that this was full cast recording I was intrigued but I found the story is so well told and so viscerally felt in the voices of the characters coming to life. This was a story I couldnt stop listening to and I think I finished in a day and a half. Well worth my monthly credit!

✨⭐✨Fantasticly Riveting✨⭐✨

This read(or listen in this case) became an instant favourite for me. the interview format is done in such a way that story the story felt fluid and unstilted. The pacing was fantastic and kept me wanting more. I loved the unnamed interviewer and really hope they make a return in the next book. Also as a Canadian really loved that this book was written by a Canadian author and had a Canadian lead! ;)

I loved unraveling the mystery of the technology and the people involved with the project. The interview style so made me feel as if I was a part of the story acting as some sort of investigator or reviewer.

I'm going to reared this again soon as I went through it so quickly the first time and want to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Voice acting was clear, we'll paced and not overly dramatic which I prefer from audio books. I also enjoyed the fact that it felt more like the voice actors were reading a screenplay and not simply reading a book, it really made the characters come to life for me.

All and all I absolutely adore this work and will recommend it to everyone!

"Sleeping Giants... More like Screaming Giants"

This book is awesome the story is really good and, I don't want to shy away from that, but the cast that voiced this all did such a good job and it made listening to this feel so much more, real/believable i plan on listening to all of these books and hope theychave as big an impact as this one did.

Okay story

Okay story. A bit of mystery, so I’m intrigued, the characters are okay, they have personality but a the dialog is a bit boring. Got tired of the mysterious and sinister man pretty quickly, like a one note piano. The international politicking seemed believable.

Always in the passenger seat

I don't like the constant use of the narrative style of interviews and journal entries. It feels like the author doesn't trust you to experience the events as they happen. The few times the author doesn't rely on these narrative styles it's a breath of fresh air.

I don't like the story of untouchable big brother organization gets a bit bland
