Publisher's Summary

The new novel in the New York Times best-selling Dresden Files series.

No one's tried to kill Harry Dresden for almost an entire year, and his life finally seems to be calming down. For once, the future looks fairly bright. But the past casts one hell of a long shadow.

An old bargain has placed Harry in debt to Mab, monarch of the Winter Court of the Sidhe, the Queen of Air and Darkness - and she's calling in her marker. It's a small favor he can't refuse, one that will trap Harry Dresden between a nightmarish foe and an equally deadly ally, and one that will strain his skills-and loyalties-to their very limits.

It figures. Everything was going too well to last....

What the critics say

“Superlative.” (Publishers Weekly, starred review)

“Butcher...spins an excellent noirish detective yarn in a well-crafted, supernaturally-charged setting. The supporting cast is again fantastic, and Harry’s wit continues to fly in the face of a peril-fraught plot.” (Booklist, starred review)

“A tricky plot complete with against-the-clock pacing, firefights, explosions, and plenty of magic. Longtime series fans as well as newcomers drawn by the SciFi Channel’s TV series based on the novels should find this supernatural mystery a real winner.” (Library Journal)

Great stories

Loving the Dresden files and James Marster 's performance. It's the only thing that keeps me on the treadmill. Not looking forward to the day I've listened to them all.

Lighthearted fun

Just entertaining and enjoyable. Just what the doctor ordered. Performance was well done and always a great distraction.

Small compared to books in series but Mighty!!!

couldn't even believe it was over when I was over with this book it's definitely a shorter one or it feels more Speedy than the rest of the series but the background story for everyone's characters really develops in this book and you really get a sense even more how the white Council the black Council in the whole world that Harry Dresden has to deal with I am thoroughly enjoying this whole series

Review of Small Favors

A great listen. Funny, dramatic, and foreshadowing of what's to come. A must for any Dresden enthusiast.

Nice to see the characters continue to evolve.

#Audible1 Harry is at it once again. Being drawn deep into new and dangerous adventures. there were a few moments I hoped would come to pass but with different results. Butcher keeps your interest and makes you look forward to the next adventure.

overall another great entry in Dresden files

the only oddity I feel like commenting on is James doing a new voice for some reoccurring characters. Minor gripe really but it does make me think twice about who's talking when suddenly concade or Thomas is speaking with a noticeable accent when they didn't previously.

Calm before the storm

As much as this book's conflict seems fairly epic this book is the calm before the coming storm. I'm up to Changes (12) and am taking a decent break before continuing because there's so much to digest. Books 11 and 12 end in semi-cliffhangers (main story is resolved, but they start the next conflict) and I personally hate that. Planning on listening to this again (for a third time), as I feel I keep missing something.
