Not as good as the Paper Magician series

I loved the Paper Magician series so much, and had hoped to enjoy this series too, but I just couldn't get into it. Sometimes a great narrator can rescue a so-so book, but not this time. Sadly, I think I'm officially giving up on Charlie Holmberg: aside from the Paper Magician series, I've ended up being returning all her books :(
