About this listen

A gripping literary horror novel about the death of a haunted town

On winter solstice, the birds disappeared, and the mist arrived.

The inhabitants of Nebulah quickly learn not to venture out after dark. But it is hard to stay indoors: Cabin fever sets in, and the mist can be beguiling too.

Eventually only six remain. Like the rest of the townspeople, Pete has nowhere else to go. After he rescues a stranded psychic from a terrible fate, he’s given a warning: He will be dead by solstice unless he leaves town - soon.

A very slow burn book with few tense moments made less tense by a very easy going narration. Audio quality is poop.

Not bad

I liked the story. There have been many horrors whose premise is a supernatural mist and it’s horrific doings, however this stood out to me because there is a vague understanding of it.
The narrator did a great job at his interpretation of Pete and I liked how he was really able to convey both his calm exterior but also the anxiety in his internal dialogue.
It was definitely a slow burn and my points are based on the moments I really enjoyed, however, I felt like some characters were thrown in and created a deep bond with the main characters in a way that felt a little rushed to me and didn’t fully explain the intense desire to protect.
The ending wasn’t great for me, but again that’s all up to personal preference and interpretation.
Over all, I mostly enjoyed it and would recommend to those who are looking to step into the horror genre.

If your expecting a wild, fast paced romp- give this one a miss. This is a slow, well writtwn slog into the abyss; where a lot of the tension is about how routine the horror has become, and the actions of the people affected by it.
The narrator gives a wonderful performance, although there are a few glinches in the audio that cost it a star. Nothing bad enough to take away from the story.

Fantastic book, really good story. The narrator did fantastic, but there are a handful of sections where the audio quality dips slightly but not enough to make it not worth a listen.

Great, but with some slight audio issues
