Best book on purposeful storytelling I've read.
I've read a lot of books on storytelling, and they're almost all giant, vague, abstract treatises on creating an entire novel or screenplay. This is the first book that taught me how to leverage a story in a youtube vid or social media. Grateful.

It needs an abridged version.
I survived another book that should have been a blog post. Too many examples and repetitions. AND in the most important part of the book (where it tells you how to write the story and you would actually benefit from a good example) they chose an example that is not at all relatable (the movie Moneyball?!)

Great book, but.. UPDATED
Update: Okay, so I figured it out. You have to play Robert's narration at a faster speed. I use 1.25x the speed and it keeps me engaged. I don't zone out anymore.
Old Review: Robert McKee.. legend. Book is really insightful and intuitive, except.. for his ability to read an audiobook. Something about his voice makes me tune out and not care.
I've bought several audiobooks from McKee.. same story. Great material... but something about his voice doesn't work for me.

Gamechanger for sales & ads in a post TV world
I loved this book and found it to be more ad and social media focused than I'd expected but it talks about building and maintaining brand presence in a world where people skip over the commercials. This was really a good read!

Great Book
Great resource for personal and professional business development. It accomplished the stated goal of teaching you how to write a story. The narration was awesome, and the examples provided a greater depth of understanding. This is not only a must read but it is a must re-read.

Good book. Introductory
There was a good story around setting up the story. There were a few key points to highlight and share. I would have liked if it had a more structured or classroom approach. I listened to it, maybe if I read it, I would have felt the classroom affect.

This is the stuff you build companies with
Enlightening and yet very concrete. This book does what it deserves and tells you why you should adopt the mindset it's teaching. This in itself isn't special, but this book also tells you how you learn to think that way and what you can actually do. Loved it and I am incorporating it in my marketing company immediately.

Solid foundation in storytelling not just for marketing, but for all types of storytellers
I’ve watched a lot of McKee’s videos , read articles by and about him, and I’ve studied his storytelling diagrams. As a filmmaker, I had heard good things about this book and I wanted to check it out. I was not disappointed and I got a lot out of it. As artists, we at times forget that even artfully made films need to have good marketing to be experienced by audiences. This book kills two birds with one stone by delving into what a good story entails, while also detailing what makes a good selling proposition for a story to connect with viewers and for it to have reach. I recommend this book to anyone.
