great story
the only thing I have to say is I was dad to have the story end but I really enjoyed it thanks Mike for writing this and I'm looking forward to reading more of your stuff in the future

Realistic endeavor
I love how you follow both the mom and the father's distinct journey. They take logical and realistic decisions and what happens to them is believable.

Overall a good series
I really enjoyed this box set. The author did a decent job of tying the characters together. The only thing that really threw me off, was at the end of every book, the author would go over what happened and what was to come.
Kind of throws off the “listening” vibe.

Enjoyed the story and the story teller.
This is the first auto book that have listened by Mike Kraus. I always enjoy his book series when I read and can happily say I enjoyed the auto version enjoyable. Mikes books are enjoyable with out being to technical.

Fabulous!
The characters were believable, their challenges were believable and exciting.All the characters storylines were wrapped up well.Now I like to see a series from Mike Kraus on how they all rebuild this new world.

Story is fine.. the voice acting is terrible
I can imagine that its not an easy task to read a story out loud and bring the characters to life through intonation, pacing, etc. The narrator of this story, Chris Abernathy, however, is just awful. I will make a point of never buying another audio book that he narrates. The Russian accent makes me want to gouge my eyes, out and the way he portrays the male protagonist, where he lowers his voice to make him sound tougher is beyond ridiculous. The story was fine, but it was a struggle to finish, because of Abernathy.

Amazing story
I absolutely loved this series. The story line, narration and believability were second to none. I felt that the narrator did a fabulous job, bringing scenes to life as well as executing each and every person in this story to life so that I felt I knew them personally. I could believe that I was right there beside them as they struggled to deal with each new threat. I also felt their sadness when someone died and also the fierce determination of Diane to protect her children and her homestead.
I recommend this series very highly and also the author Mike Kraus. Chris Abernathy the narrator gets 5 stars for his outstanding performance.
