Publisher's Summary

Working at a dead-end retail job in the middle of nowhere can be hard. The long hours. The helpless customers. The enormous eldritch horror living deep below the building. As the only full-time employee at the 24-hour gas station at the edge of town, Jack has pretty much seen it all. But when he decides to start an online journal documenting the bizarre day-to-day occurrences, he unwittingly attracts the attention of much more than just a few conspiracy theorists.

With the body count steadily on the rise and a dark, ancient force infecting the dreams of everyone around him, Jack will do everything in his power to stay out of the way and mind his own business. After all, he’s just a gas station clerk. It’s not like he’s getting paid enough to wage battle against the nightmarish aberrations plaguing his community. Besides, he already has his hands full attempting to manage all those mysterious lawn gnomes, the mutant raccoons, and the charming phantom cowboy who lives in the bathroom.

Based on the award-winning creepypasta by GasStationJack, Tales from the Gas Station: Volume One is a love letter to the pioneers of classic horror tailored to a generation that grew up in the era of smartphones and WiFi.

This is not Youtube

I enjoyed the story very much. For people critiquing it from not being scary I don't think it is meant to be, but I sympathize with your confusion. I listen to the narrator on YouTube and he's fantastic, there are a few times where his delivery during this Audiobook along with the story made me actually laugh out loud. That being said, this isn't a free video on YouTube or CreepyPasta Podcast, this is meant to be a finished product ready for purchase and I can't think of anything more unprofessional than a narrator who leaves in his mistakes. I understand people make mistakes, but while listening to the story at best it's laughable and at worst it brings everything to a screeching halt and takes me out of the story. My solution to this would be to edit them, just like every other narrator on this platform, especially when you're charging people.

Such a wonderful read

I love the story. I cannot wait to continue to support Jack in the next couple of books. It’s such a shame I have to wait for more, but that makes everything sweeter. Thanks Jack, and MCP for your work

Mr.Creepypasta and Jack Townsend are the best

I literally bought an audible account for these 2 books. You best believe I will buy everything these two collaborate on.

Absolutely loved the creepy vibe. The combined comedy added a touch that's hard to find anywhere else.

It's MrCreepypasta 😁

I adore the YouTube channel "MrCreepypasta", and so I was THRILLED to find he had made one of his best series into a set of audiobooks, which he also narrated. The story is fresh and original, wacky without being TOO ridiculous, funny and suspenseful... it really is the full package. I can't recommend it more, honestly. Here's hoping the Lily Madwhip series is next!

Different yet satisfying

Needed something light to listen to on my walk. Ended up walking forever. Pulls you into his weird world and I needed to know what happened.

Fun experience

narration was clunky at times and had some awkward pauses. However, somehow it almost added to the weirdness of everything happening. overall the performance was great despite the few hiccups! I will be moving right into volume 2 immediately.

One of my most favorite nosleep series!

I absolutely loved the original Reddit stories and when Jack said he was putting out his book I couldn't wait. I bought the book back when it came out and didn't hesitate to buy the audible version.

Tales from the gas station is honestly a lot like an episode of The Twilight Zone (the old one not the new one, haven't watched that one yet.). The story itself is phenomenal and is 100x better when voiced By MCP. MCP bring life and style to all of the characters and breaths life into the story itself.

I absolutely love this book and I love the narrator too! I would definitely recommend to anyone that has a dark sense of humor (or a sense of humor at all) and to anyone who likes hearing strange stories.

Perfect blend of horror, humor and strangeness.

I have been a huge fan of these stories since Mr. creepy pasta had short versions on his podcast. This is the first book I've bought outright without using credits in years, and got it the day it was released. can't wait for vol. 2 thru infinity.

Excellent listen - both book and narrator

My friend suggested that I read this book even though it’s unlike anything I read in general or listen -whatever - but I decided to give it a whirl and I was not disappointed that I did. Between the narrator and the story this was a great listen and I can’t wait (hopefully there is one )but can’t wait for the next sequel .. this was an enjoyable listen and it’s like humor with a little bit of scary but not really scary- if that makes sense .. highly recommended!!!

Good listen

My only beef is with the engineering. Many long pauses which should’ve been edited better, also a few double lines as well as the narrator coughing/clearing his throat and tripping over his tongue. Sometimes the sound would get softer then quieter, even during the same sentence. That said, the errors didn’t detract from the overall listen, I’ll be buying volume II

Odd Thomas meets Monty Python

Interesting story and narration. Sometimes hard to follow, but think that this was actually intentional.

Narration was frustrating

The narrator’s cadence was aggravating. He’d read quickly, then at a normal pace, and take long unnecessary pauses. It made it hard for me to get into the story.

The stories themselves may have been ok, but I didn’t make it through the first one before giving up due to the narration. Hence one star.
