Genuine and loving

It is fascinating to read other reviews sometimes. You can often feel the vibe and the agenda of the people who write them. Some feel sincere and honest. Others - not so much. You can tell when they are written by someone who is being judgmental and unforgiving, as well as by those who are simply trying to cheerlead the author; well intended as they are, they still feel inauthentic and provide very little, if any, value to anyone who considers purchasing the book.

It’s the second audiobook by the author that I listened to. I absolutely adored the first one ("You don’t have to eat the eyeballs”); I found it to be utterly authentic and heartfelt; her voice was mesmerizing. She could probably make a great relaxation CD just by reading a cook book and I would buy it! So the bar was set pretty high.

The idea of tantric life resonates with me. I loved the first two thirds of the book. They were filled with sincerity and love and felt completely ego free. She was able to talk about erotic side of tantra with authenticity and kindness. One can tell it is something she truly believes. Then the vibe has changed. I have a feeling that the author was writing it in a very different state of mind; it started to sound preachy and felt like a mix of new age cliches and a recap of popular memes from self help books that collect dust on the shelves at Chapters. I do admit that for those new to the journey of the soul those just might pass. Having said that, I got so disappointed at one point that I wanted to ditch the rest of the book and ask for a refund. I’m glad I didn’t, because after I fast forwarded a few minutes, the final few chapters have regained that genuine and loving vibe that I so enjoyed earlier.

In fairness, I have to say that it is very human to go through ups and downs when our own frequency changes, so I don’t hold it against Katrina; the flow of the book reflected her inner flow and that’s natural. Bottom line, the book as a whole, resonated with me on a deep level; even if not every single chapter was equally impactful. And if nothing else, the vibe she radiates in her voice alone is worth the listen.

ANOTHER HIT

I loved this book also. I hope Katrina keeps writing. So much to absorb in these pages. It’s within us all and she really helps me understand the possibilities.
