Story
For a thousand years the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the "Sliver of Infinity," reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Then, when hope was so long lost that not even its memory remained, a terribly scarred, heart-broken half-Skaa rediscovered it in the depths of the Lord Ruler's most hellish prison.

Story
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Publisher's Summary
From number one New York Times best-selling author Brandon Sanderson, the Mistborn series is a heist story of political intrigue and magical martial-arts action.
Three hundred years after the events of the Mistborn trilogy, Scadrial is now on the verge of modernity, with railroads to supplement the canals, electric lighting in the streets and the homes of the wealthy, and the first steel-framed skyscrapers racing for the clouds. Kelsier, Vin, Elend, Sazed, Spook, and the rest are now part of history - or religion.
Yet even as science and technology are reaching new heights, the old magics of Allomancy and Feruchemy continue to play a role in this reborn world. Out in the frontier lands known as the Roughs, they are crucial tools for the brave men and women attempting to establish order and justice. One such is Waxillium Ladrian, a rare Twinborn, who can Push on metals with his Allomancy and use Feruchemy to become lighter or heavier at will.
After 20 years in the Roughs, Wax has been forced by family tragedy to return to the metropolis of Elendel. Now he must reluctantly put away his guns and assume the duties and dignity incumbent upon the head of a noble house. Or so he thinks, until he learns the hard way that the mansions and elegant tree-lined streets of the city can be even more dangerous than the dusty plains of the Roughs.

Super Fun Cosmere Western
Woah, I came into this not really knowing what to expect and was pleasantly surprised! Mistborn had a heavier, almost darker tone throughout the trilogy but Wax and Wayne are just non-stop fun. Marasi was also extremely compelling and I can only hope (assume) she'll play a sizeable part in the next book.
The old western vibe, tastefully combined with Allomancy felt like just the right touch. Not only are Brandon's magic systems unique and wonderful but much of that awesomeness comes from his creative implementation of those systems. With guns and bullet occupying thos world of pushers and pullers, the possibilities are pretty much endless.
I cant wait to dive into the next one!

Didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did...
Reading reviews for this had me approach this next series with some trepidation, but I don't think any of the worrying reviews held any truth for me personally.
I enjoyed the characters, story, expansion of the magic system and performance Michael Kramer.
If anything this particular book felt short, but in the best way.

Brilliant Expansion on the World
Firstly, the characters are bloody brilliant. Absolutely loved Wax, Wayne and Maricie. Wonderful motivations and personalities.
Secondly I lived seeing how Scadrial changed over the years. The influence the previous books events had on this new world are wonderfully implemented.
Cannot recommend this book enough if you enjoyed the first Mistborn trilogy. And I believe you can hop into the series here if you wished but the first trilogy is 100% worth your time. Do yourself a favour and read them all :)
