Meet the Dog Who Will Show the World How to Be Human

The New York Times best-selling novel from Garth Stein - a heart-wrenching but deeply funny and ultimately uplifting story of family, love, loyalty, and hope - a captivating look at the wonders and absurdities of human life...as only a dog could tell it.

"Splendid." (People)

"The perfect book for anyone who knows that compassion isn’t only for humans, and that the relationship between two souls who are meant for each other never really comes to an end. Every now and then I'm lucky enough to read a novel I can’t stop thinking about: this is one of them." (Jodi Picoult)

"It's impossible not to love Enzo." (Minneapolis Star Tribune)

"This old soul of a dog has much to teach us about being human. I loved this book." (Sara Gruen)

You will never see or talk to your dog the same way again after listening to or reading this book. The love, the understanding and the connection. I absolutely loved it!

Sooooo good !

Can't wait to see the movie now too ! I heard it's coming out next year. Such a touching tale. If you are a dog owner, your can't not listen to this book. Great narrator. Loved all the voices for each character. I will listen to this again.

Great listen for a roadtrip

I thoroughly enjoyed this book when I first got it, in print, likely because I am a huge dog person and also love F1 and Le Mans. You are drifting between some moments of laugh out loud humour to moments of bewilderment to moments of great sadness that all tie together very neatly.

My only, personal, criticism is how the narration differed so much from what I had created in my mind when reading the book that it was hard to get used to. The narrator did a fantastic job at capturing the character Enzo but it was just. different.

Overall a great little listen!

Beautiful story with important life metaphors

I loved this book (still crying). Two honorable heroes who practice love, honesty, commitment and passion teach us and those around them to never give up.

Finished with a big ol’ ugly cry

A beautiful and painful story told from an adoring dog’s point of view. I don’t have a dog but this book helped me understand the love between dog and family. Thanx

Great book, great reading by the narrator

I really enjoyed this book. However, nobody warned me it's a tear jerker, and it is certainly that. The only thing I didn't like was the periodic music interludes that presumably broke the chapters up into groups? I don't know, I don't understand why the interludes are there. It's not necessary and a bit irritating. Great novel and wonderful narration.

A Heart Felt Story

This is a wonderful story, full of laughs and tragedies and triumphs . As a dog lover I love the main character and the way he tells the story through his eyes. It’s a beautiful tail of man and his best friend.
