Enjoyable read

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this audiobook to anyone it is a light enjoyable story.

What did you like best about this story?

The way Stevie was portrayed throughout the story.

Have you listened to any of Becky Hindley’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

She was very good.

Any additional comments?

I buy every Milly Johnson book you offer. Every book is different and some I have read several times particularly "Here Come The Girls" it was my favourite. However it was the last book of Milly Johnsons I purchased because of the description, I was not sure if it would be as good as her previous books.
I only bought it because of the author and I could not find anything else that appealed and it was so much better than expected.

Loved it Loved it Loved it!!!!

It took just 10mins for me to be hooked - I really loved this story and just adored all the characters - you cant go past a huge but gentle red-headed Scot.

The narration is perfect and the accents bring life to everyone.

I really do recommend this book - Millie Johnson has done it again.

Finally! I found one...(my first book review too)

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, this book was such a refreshing change and exactly what I'd been looking for. The UK accent of the narrator truly brought out the humor of the book. If I were to read the book myself, I never would have enjoyed the story to the the level that I did.

What did you like best about this story?

That it was funny and the reviews were actually true. The story was believable, the characters unique in their own way (not too sappy like a romance novel) and just what I look for in a chick-lit book. I laughed out loud with Stevie's version of the "F" word.

Which character – as performed by Becky Hindley – was your favorite?

I thought Stevie's son, although not a major character in the book, was enjoyable and unexpected for me. The character of Adam narrated by Becky Hindley was just perfect. I admire the way she could switch from Adam's accent to another characters' seamlessly.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I tried to control myself and only listen on my drive to and from work to make it last, but I couldn't do it.

Any additional comments?

I am so frustrated with best seller lists. I have been disappointed so many times in books I've downloaded which is why I am going to make a conscious effort to write more of my own reviews or at least give the books I've listened to an honest score. I think we all should try.

Delightful!

I enjoy Milly Johnson's books, I wish there were more of them available in the U.S. I think The Birds and the Bees may be my favorite. Although the story follows a predictable formula, the author creates that irresistible pull to see what will happen next. A very enjoyable light read! I give it 5 stars not because it's a masterpiece or would receive critical acclaim, but for the genre it is really wonderful stuff.

Great Fun

Would you consider the audio edition of The Birds and the Bees to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version, but hero's Scottish accent is one reason I love this book, so I suspect I would agree that the audio is better than the print. Plus Becky Hindley voice inflections are wonderful. She does it all - boredom, anger, sorrow, and laughter

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Birds and the Bees?

I think when the hero helps save Danny.

Which scene was your favorite?

Ah, that is difficult to say. There are so many funny scenes. From the heroine trying to understand the hero's accent to the subterfuge they engage in, to the hero's interaction with the heroine's young son.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There are several memorable scenes, like at the hospital but I think that it is the general theme of the book that overall made this such a successful book for me. The book is humorous, touching with great character growth.

Any additional comments?

I have listened to and read several of Ms. Johnson's books. The Birds and the Bees is hands down my favorite.

A NICE ESCAPE

If you could sum up The Birds and the Bees in three words, what would they be?

I truly enjoyed the performance by Becky Hindley. The story was lite and funny. It's a quick listen but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

What does Becky Hindley bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I loved the english and scottish accent. There is no way I would have been able to imagine that dialect in my mind as I read.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The grass may look greener on the other side but watch out, it could be astroturf.

I love all the Milly Johnson books I have listened to. They seem to be a perfect blend of light, funny and cute without being over the top or over romanced. Love them!

dont waste your credit

What disappointed you about The Birds and the Bees?

No matter how many times i attempted getting through the first couple of chapters i couldn't, on occasion i fell asleep to the monotone of the narrator. I havent managed to get through the bloody thing so i cant tell you that the story is a complete loss, nor i can say that it continues in the exact manner as the first chapters. What i can say is i think its a miserable audio book and im upset that i wasted my time and money on it.

What was most disappointing about Milly Johnson’s story?

It was too slow, didnt captivate, or spark any imagination.

Would you be willing to try another one of Becky Hindley’s performances?

Im not sure, probably not.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Birds and the Bees?

I would rewrite the first chapter of the book and make it interesting

Any additional comments?

Im being bias. I havent read the whole thing, and if the first chapters are any indication of the rest of the story then i've made the right choice by not forcing myself through it.

Narrator makes book a good listen. NOT this one!

Would you try another book from Milly Johnson and/or Becky Hindley?

I will not purchase another book narrated by Becky Hindley. She sounds OLD and stuffy. Colleen Prendergast is the perfect narrator for Ms. Johnson's books. She is light, cheery, fun and tender when needed. This woman is just AWFUL!!!

Would you recommend The Birds and the Bees to your friends? Why or why not?

No. If I don't like the sound of the narrator, why would I put anyone I care about in the position to listen to her?

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Becky Hindley?

Colleen Prendergast. She is perfect in the other Milly Johnson books I've listened to (about 6 so far in the last 3-4 weeks!).

Did The Birds and the Bees inspire you to do anything?

Yes. It inspired me to pay more attention to the name of the narrator. I will not ever purchase another book read by Becky Hindley.
