Publisher's Summary

A random murder in a public park. An artist wracked by fantastical and haunting dreams. A police inspector confronting the depraved rites of a voodoo cult. I loved it

At first I struggled with the cheesiness of the old school radio style, but it grew on me and I've listened to it many times.

a classic

I understand the influence Lovecraft has had on pop culture, his stories influenced things like hellboy(one of my favorite comic books) but consider this, I hate h.p. Lovecraft. in his work, he often uses words like "otherworldly" or "indescribable" to avoid actually describing things and the racism is another topic entirely, however this was enjoyable putting aside all of that. you can really tell the people making this audiobook made it with love

Another great retelling

I was curious how'd they do this one as it is all just diaries and newspaper clippings that made up this story originally. Doing this instead of from Dr Angel's Nephew as he goes through Angel's things; having this story take place by an investigator that has found Angel's notes at the now dead Nephew (because in the original it ends with the Nephew suggesting he would be next to be killed by the Cult) gave this a far more immersive drama feel compared to reference after reference to journals and clippings

save the last bullet for yourself

'BIG fun' was enough to say but apparently more words are required to post a review

An interesting and well adapted short story

My first H. P. Lovecraft story. Well adapted and written. Will likely try another in the future.
