the performance of the actor reading the male part was up tight and choppy. It was too obvious he was reading a book instead of telling a story. I couldn’t get past chapter 5

Enjoyed this lighthearted enemies to lovers. Was a good palate cleanser after my last heavy read. Narrators were really good . Wish female narration had more parts but the male was really good . liked his voice. Story was cute . Medium paced and had a HEA. I would give the Spice 🌶️🌶️ . overall I would give it 3.5

I was certain the male narrator was AI. He mispronounces words frequently and his cadence is weird - he couldn’t be a human. I’m still not convinced.

The story is readable but probably forgettable. I appreciate that it’s set in Victoria but the description of the city is vague. I plan to deep dive the author to decide if she has ever been to BC. “Cottage” not cabin, private care homes, zero mention that Penny would have monthly income as a senior in Canada. Picky details but these things stuck out to me.

90% of the spice is a kiss on the forehead… it’s bell peppers not hot peppers. The book is an excellent pallet cleanser if you’ve read too much smut. The FMC is a doormat with a big heart, the MMC is an a$$hole she reforms. Predicable but there’s no story to write if he didn’t change.
